The manifested Lord stands dark as the blue lotus opening over deep water, dark as the polished blue jewel, and dark as a rain laden cloud gathering above a thirsting earth.

His colour does not swallow light. It holds immeasurable radiance within depth, drawing the gaze as monsoon sky draws every waiting field. Beauty appears at once tender, sovereign, cooling, and vast.

Before the splendour of that body, countless millions of Kamadevas would hide their faces in shame. The very power by which created beauty enchants the worlds becomes small before the One now visible through a devotee's love.

The rain dark Lord appears, and millions of gods of beauty lower their eyes.

Read the passage from the Manas

नील सरोरुह नील मनि नील नीरधर स्याम। लाजहिं तन सोभा निरखि कोटि कोटि सत काम।।146।।

Dark as the blue lotus, dark as the blue jewel, dark as the rain-laden cloud. Beholding the splendor of His body, countless millions of Kamadevas hide their faces in shame.
