Shankar, the enemy of Kama and the one in whom wisdom arises naturally, listens to Uma's humble question. Delight spreads quietly through his heart. The same ascetic whose third eye reduced desire to ash now rejoices at a longing purified into love for Ram Katha.
He praises Parvati in many ways. Her question is no longer treated as a remnant of error but honoured as the vessel through which a vast teaching will enter the world.
Then the treasury of compassion prepares to speak. Beneath his matted locks and crescent moon, knowledge and tenderness meet. The account of why the unborn Lord takes birth is ready to begin.
Shiva's heart brightens, and compassion draws the first breath of the answer.

हिंयँ हरषे कामारि तब संकर सहज सुजान बहु बिधि उमहि प्रसंसि पुनि बोले कृपानिधान।।120(क)।। सुनु सुभ कथा भवानि रामचरितमानस बिमल। कहा भुसुंडि बखानि सुना बिहग नायक गरुड।।120(ख)।। सो संबाद उदार जेहि बिधि भा आगें कहब। सुनहु राम अवतार चरित परम सुंदर अनघ।।120(ग)।। हरि गुन नाम अपार कथा रूप अगनित अमित। मैं निज मति अनुसार कहउँ उमा सादर सुनहु।।120(घ।।
