Ram, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna look upon one another, speak, meet, and laugh. Nothing grand is required. The slightest exchange among them carries the fullness of brotherhood, a love that moves before words and remains after laughter has faded.
In the allegorical lake, their fellowship becomes sweetness within the water and fragrance rising above it. Sweetness must be tasted by entering. Fragrance travels beyond the shore, reaching even those who have not yet seen the blossoms from which it comes.
Their bond gives the entire Manas an intimacy deeper than royal history.
One brother smiles toward another, and the whole lake becomes fragrant.
Read the passage from the Manas
अवलोकनि बोलनि मिलनि प्रीति परसपर हास। भायप भलि चहु बंधु की जल माधुरी सुबास।।42।।
The way the four brothers gaze upon one another, their speech, their meeting, their mutual love and laughter, and the beauty of their fraternal bond: these are the sweetness and fragrance of the lake's waters.
