Sita enters among wise companions whose melodious song moves ahead of her through the pavilion. A beautiful sari clothes her youthful form, and ornaments from many lands have been arranged with loving care upon every limb.
The moment her feet touch the ceremonial ground, men and women are spellbound. Celestial drums answer from above, apsaras sing, and blossoms descend through the open air. In Sita's lotus-like hands rests the garland that will declare victory and choose a husband.
Every king stares. Sita, astonished and inwardly yearning, searches for Ram while the rulers fall beneath the enchantment of her form. At last she sees the two brothers seated near Vishwamitra. Her eyes brighten and cling to the treasure they have found, while the garland remains quiet between her hands.
Sita finds Ram beside the sage, and her waiting eyes arrive before her feet can follow.
