Swayambhu Manu and Shatarupa stand at the beginning of incomparable human creation. Their conduct is so rooted in dharma that the Vedas continue to sing their deeds. From the first household, a lineage unfolds in which rule, renunciation, philosophy, and devotion will take distinct forms.
Their son Uttanapada becomes father to Dhruva, the child whose devotion to Hari grows immovable as the pole star. Priyavrata, the younger son, receives praise in Veda and Purana. Their daughter Devahuti joins her life with the sage Kardama.
Within Devahuti's womb, the primordial compassionate Lord takes birth as Kapila. He expounds Sankhya with perfect knowledge of ultimate truth. Through many ages Manu governs faithfully according to the Lord's commands, carrying sacred order across the widening human world.

स्वायंभू मनु अरु सतरूपा। जिन्ह तें भै नरसृष्टि अनूपा।। दंपति धरम आचरन नीका। अजहुँ गाव श्रुति जिन्ह कै लीका।। नृप उत्तानपाद सुत तासू। ध्रुव हरि भगत भयउ सुत जासू।। लघु सुत नाम प्रिय्रब्रत ताही। बेद पुरान प्रसंसहि जाही।। देवहूति पुनि तासु कुमारी। जो मुनि कर्दम कै प्रिय नारी।। आदिदेव प्रभु दीनदयाला। जठर धरेउ जेहिं कपिल कृपाला।। सांख्य सास्त्र जिन्ह प्रगट बखाना। तत्व बिचार निपुन भगवाना।। तेहिं मनु राज कीन्ह बहु काला। प्रभु आयसु सब बिधि प्रतिपाला।।
