Narada looks again into the water and sees his own familiar form restored, but no peace returns. His lips tremble. Should he curse Vishnu or die after being made the mockery of the world? He strides toward Lakshmi's Lord with anger tightening every thought.
On the road he meets the enemy of demons accompanied by Lakshmi in the form of the same princess. Hari speaks sweetly and asks why the sage travels in such distress. Under Maya, discernment leaves Narada completely, and the gentle question strikes him like deliberate provocation.
Accusations pour out. Vishnu cannot bear another's prosperity, he says, and deceit and jealousy govern his ways. Narada reaches back to the churning of the ocean, blaming him for driving Rudra to bewilderment and arranging for Shiva to drink the poison.
Hari meets him with sweetness, and Narada answers from the full heat of Maya.

पुनि जल दीख रूप निज पावा। तदपि हृदयँ संतोष न आवा।। फरकत अधर कोप मन माहीं। सपदी चले कमलापति पाहीं।। देहउँ श्राप कि मरिहउँ जाई। जगत मोर उपहास कराई।। बीचहिं पंथ मिले दनुजारी। संग रमा सोइ राजकुमारी।। बोले मधुर बचन सुरसाईं। मुनि कहँ चले बिकल की नाईं।। सुनत बचन उपजा अति क्रोधा। माया बस न रहा मन बोधा।। पर संपदा सकहु नहिं देखी। तुम्हरें इरिषा कपट बिसेषी।। मथत सिंधु रुद्रहि बौरायहु। सुरन्ह प्रेरी बिष पान करायहु।।
Then he looked in the water and saw his own true form reflected back. Still his heart found no peace. His lips trembled with rage. He set off at once toward the Lord (Vishnu).
