Rama Lifts the Shadow from Kaikeyi's Farewell

Kaikeyi stands before the son whose exile has filled her heart with hesitation and grief. Rama does not leave her imprisoned within that shadow. He bows at her feet and meets her with pure affection, restoring the sacred relation that sorrow had made painful to approach.
He arranges her palanquin himself. Around them, attendants prepare for the long road, yet the deepest movement is inward. Rama's unclouded love removes the awkwardness of the hour and quiets the grief that has gathered around her name.
The scene is small beside the great procession, but its mercy is immense. Before the palanquin turns toward Ayodhya, Kaikeyi receives neither accusation nor distance. She receives the touch of reverence, the nearness of her son, and a farewell cleansed by his compassion.
Rama sends Kaikeyi home beneath a canopy of tenderness, leaving no wound outside the reach of his love.

Touching the feet of Bharata's mother with pure affection, the Lord embraced her in a sacred meeting. He arranged her palanquin and bade her farewell, removing all her hesitation and sorrow.
