Divine Illusion Cannot Touch the Spiritually Awake

The celestial fog spreads according to the vulnerability of each mind. It does not descend with equal power upon everyone, for illusion requires an inward place willing or able to receive it.
Bharata, Janaka, the sages, ministers, and saints remain awake. Devotion, discernment, disciplined counsel, and holy company keep their attention from being carried away by the restlessness moving through the crowd.
The distinction is not between favored and abandoned people. It reveals forms of protection cultivated before crisis. A heart established in Rama, a mind trained in truth, and a life joined to the wise possess an inner witness that can recognize disturbance without becoming its instrument.
The fog reaches each mind by its opening, but devotion and discernment keep the wakeful ones standing in clear air.

भरतु जनकु मुनिजन सचिव साधु सचेत बिहाइ। लागि देवमाया सबहि जथाजोगु जनु पाइ।।302।।
Setting aside Bharata, Janaka, the sages, the ministers, and the saints who remain spiritually awake, divine illusion (Devamaayaa) has touched everyone else according to their capacity.
