Rama's oath closes every easy path. Janaka cannot treat the Lord's obedience as permission to satisfy his own affection, and Vasishtha will not break the truth he guards.
Silence spreads through sage, king, and assembly. One by one, faces turn toward Bharata, the brother who has asked for no power yet has become the place where every line of responsibility meets.
No answer forms. To command Rama is impossible, to disregard Bharata is impossible, and to leave the grief unresolved is impossible. The assembly can only gaze at the face of the servant whose surrender has made him more decisive than throne, argument, or celestial design.
Rama's vow silences wisdom and kingship alike, until every eye rests upon the one servant who never wished to decide.

राम सपथ सुनि मुनि जनकु सकुचे सभा समेत। सकल बिलोकत भरत मुखु बनइ न उतरु देत।।296।।
Hearing Raam's oath, the sage Janaku and the entire sabhaa fell into awed silence. All eyes turned toward Bharat's face, but no one could find words to answer.
