Rama does more than free Bharata from blame. He places his brother's name among the purifying powers by which others may find freedom from their own darkness.
Sin, delusion, and the accumulated weight of inauspiciousness dissolve where Bharata is remembered. The man who believed himself the root of disaster is revealed by Rama as a source of cleansing for the world.
His good fame belongs to earthly life, yet it does not end at its horizon. Remembrance of Bharata bears happiness beyond this world as well. The name carries the fragrance of a devotion that sought no reward, accepted no innocence for itself, and desired only that Rama's will and the welfare of all should become one.
Rama turns the name Bharata, burdened by its bearer with grief, into a remembrance that clears misfortune and illumines both worlds.

मिटिहहिं पाप प्रपंच सब अखिल अमंगल भार। लोक सुजसु परलोक सुखु सुमिरत नामु तुम्हार।।263।।
All sins, all worldly illusions, and every burden of misfortune shall be wiped away. Fame in this world and bliss in the next arise simply from remembering your name, dear Bharat.
