Bharata asks the assembly to seek the remedy through him. The entire calamity, in his feeling, has arisen from his misfortune.
He does not claim authority to design the answer. He offers himself as the material from which a righteous answer may be made.
The words are filled with love rather than theatrical self-punishment. Hearing them, affection surges within Vasishtha's heart. Bharata's willingness opens a path the council could not find while treating him only as prince, petitioner, or injured brother. The possible remedy begins when the self becomes available for service.
Where every strategy fails, Bharata offers his own life as the place through which the remedy may pass.

बूझिअ मोहि उपाउ अब सो सब मोर अभागु। सुनि सनेहमय बचन गुर उर उमगा अनुरागु।।255।।
Ask of me now the remedy; all this is born of my misfortune. Hearing these words full of love, a wave of devotion surged in the guru's heart.
