The roadside account gathers Bharata's pilgrimage into a few visible acts. He walks rather than rides and accepts fruit as his food.
The kingdom his father gave him has been renounced, not from incapacity, but because he travels to persuade Raghubir to return and receive what Bharata will not hold in his absence.
The question rises among the villagers: who today can be compared with him? Their praise is grounded in the road before their eyes. Bare feet, simple nourishment, relinquished sovereignty, and the purpose of reconciliation make devotion legible even to those far from court. Bharata's greatness passes through the villages without needing proclamation.
A prince walking on fruit toward the brother whose kingdom he refused leaves the villages asking whom the world could place beside him.
