The shinsupa tree stands where Raghubir passed a night of exile. Its branches remain above the ground that received the three forest travellers while Ayodhya slept far away.
Guha brings Bharata to that remembered shelter. No throne, image, or jeweled chamber waits there, only a sacred tree and the earth upon which Ram rested.
Love recognizes the place before thought can measure it. Bharata bows with complete reverence and extends his whole body in prostration. The simple ground becomes a threshold because it bears the trace of the beloved. Here pilgrimage reaches intimacy: the prince who would not accept Ram's kingdom places himself in the dust where Ram accepted the hardness of exile.
Beneath the shinsupa tree, Bharata gives his whole body to the dust that once gave Ram a bed.

Beneath the sacred shinsupa tree where the Lord of the Raghus had rested, Bharat, overcome with love and reverence, fell to the ground in full prostration.
