Vasishtha tells Bharata that destiny is powerful. Human intention moves within an order whose whole design cannot be seen from one grieving moment.
Gain and loss, life and death, honor and disgrace rest in the hand of providence. The pairs that shape worldly identity arrive and depart beyond personal command.
The teaching does not make choices irrelevant or deeds innocent. It loosens the mind's demand to hold one person as the complete author of an unfolding that now includes exile, death, duty, and a kingdom without direction. Within that wider hand, Bharata may act without pretending he controls every result.
Vasishtha opens the clenched fist of blame and points toward the unseen hand holding gain, loss, life, death, honor, and shame.

सुनहु भरत भावी प्रबल बिलखि कहेउ मुनिनाथ। हानि लाभु जीवन मरनु जसु अपजसु बिधि हाथ।।171।।
"Listen, Bharat: destiny is all-powerful," the lord of sages spoke with deep sorrow. "Gain and loss, life and death, honor and disgrace, all rest in the hands of Providence."
