Sita's Heart Endures Every Word except Separation

Sita marvels that her heart did not break while hearing Ram's harsh descriptions and his wish to leave her behind. Her life breath has endured more than she thought possible.
Yet that endurance must not be mistaken for capacity to survive separation. The breath remains strong only to reject the fate being offered.
The doha stands at the limit where emotional pain becomes knowledge. Sita has heard every argument, remained present through each, and discovered the one condition her being cannot accept. Hardship can be borne; division from Ram cannot.
Sita's heart survives the sound of separation only long enough to declare that separation itself is unsurvivable.

ऐसेउ बचन कठोर सुनि जौं न ह्रदउ बिलगान। तौ प्रभु बिषम बियोग दुख सहिहहिं पावँर प्रान।।67।।
Even hearing such harsh words, my heart did not break apart. So it seems, O Lord, these wretched life-breaths of mine are strong enough to endure the terrible grief of separation. (And yet, if forced to stay, they will not endure at all.)
