Ram's mind is compared to a newly captured elephant. The coronation stake would bind that immense living freedom to one appointed place.
News of the forest journey loosens the tether. Knowing himself released, Ram feels joy swell within his heart.
The image does not condemn righteous kingship; it reveals Ram's inward nonattachment. Throne and forest are both fields of dharma, yet the open road offers no claim of possession around him. No court can contain that freedom. What appears to Ayodhya as deprivation feels to Ram like space restored to the boundless movement of service.
As the coronation tether falls away, the great elephant of Ram's mind turns joyfully toward the open forest.

नव गयंदु रघुबीर मनु राजु अलान समान। छूट जानि बन गवनु सुनि उर अनंदु अधिकान।।51।।
Shri Rama's mind is like a newly captured elephant, and the coronation was the stake that binds it. Hearing of the journey to the forest and knowing himself freed from that stake, joy swelled in his heart.
