Ram Receives the Forest as a Gift

Ram looks toward the forest and sees not deprivation but meeting with sages. The road away from Ayodhya opens into holy company and whatever is truly beneficial for him.
Within this same gift he recognizes Dasharatha's command and Kaikeyi's blessing. The act designed as exile is accepted as parental grace.
Nothing in the external arrangement changes, yet Ram's vision transforms its meaning completely. Forest replaces throne, but service remains. Bark cloth replaces royal silk, but blessing remains. Freedom appears not by choosing the circumstance, but by receiving dharma without inward opposition.
What Kaikeyi names exile, Ram receives as forest, sages, father's command, and mother's blessing.

मुनिगन मिलनु बिसेषि बन सबहि भाँति हित मोर। तेहि महँ पितु आयसु बहुरि संमत जननी तोर।।41।।
To meet the munis in the forest, to find in every way what is good for me. In that very gift lies my father's command, and it carries your blessing too, dear Mother.
