Kaikeyi describes Dasharatha suspended between two absolutes. On one side is love for Ram; on the other stands the word he has pledged.
The king cannot voice the command because speech would wound the son who is his life. Yet silence leaves the promise unresolved and the anguish unending.
Kaikeyi tells Ram to take the unspoken order upon his own head and remove the suffering. The burden is shifted from father to son: Ram must interpret silence as command and freely accomplish what love prevents Dasharatha from asking. The knot will be cut by the one whom both strands bind.
Where a father cannot speak, Kaikeyi asks the son to lift the silent command and carry it away.

सुत सनेह इत बचनु उत संकट परेउ नरेसु। सकहु न आयसु धरहु सिर मेटहु कठिन कलेसु।।40।।
On one side, his love for his son. On the other, his given word. The king is caught between the two. If you cannot speak the command yourself, then place it upon your head and wipe away this terrible anguish.
