Kaikeyi lightly reproaches Dasharatha. He repeatedly tells her to ask, yet promises seem to remain only words without true giving or receiving.

Then she brings forward the two boons pledged long ago and claims even these are received with doubt. The remembered debt enters the chamber between smile and accusation.

Her phrasing makes the king eager to prove generosity and truthfulness before she names what she wants. Manthara's strategy continues exactly: first secure the oath, then awaken royal pride in a promise kept. The boons stand unopened like sealed vessels whose contents only Kaikeyi knows.

Two old promises appear between them, still closed, while Dasharatha rushes to prove they are truly hers.

Read the passage from the Manas

मागु मागु पै कहहु पिय कबहुँ न देहु न लेहु। देन कहेहु बरदान दुइ तेउ पावत संदेहु।।27।।

You say 'ask, ask,' my beloved, yet you never truly give or take. You promised two boons, and even those I receive with doubt.
