Each tale gives fear another image and imagined enmity another apparent precedent. Kaikeyi's actual experience of Kausalya begins to recede behind scenes constructed in speech.
The doha reveals manipulation as patient accumulation. One accusation might be resisted, but a hundred variations can make fiction feel like a pattern long overlooked. Manthara keeps feeding the flame until the queen is invited to regard another woman's joy as the preparation of her own suffering.
With a hundred invented tales, Manthara builds a past for an enmity that had never lived in Kaikeyi's heart.

Contriving and concocting countless cruelties, she gave this deceitful counsel. She told a hundred tales of co-wife rivalry, inflaming enmity in every way she could.
