Flags and banners are unfurled. Festive arches rise above the roads, golden water pots are prepared, and horses, chariots, and elephants are brought into ceremonial readiness.
The people receive Vasishtha's words upon their heads. Each person turns immediately toward the appointed work, carrying obedience as honour rather than burden.
Ayodhya changes through coordinated hands. Cloth climbs into the wind, metal catches the sun, animals stamp within bright trappings, and thresholds take on auspicious form. The city has not yet seen Ram crowned, but service already makes the invisible celebration present in every street.
Before the coronation drum sounds, obedience has already clothed Ayodhya in celebration.

ध्वज पताक तोरन कलस सजहु तुरग रथ नाग। सिर धरि मुनिबर बचन सबु निज निज काजहिं लाग।।6।।
'Prepare flags and banners, festive arches, and golden water-pots! Ready the horses, chariots, and elephants!' Taking the great sage's words upon their heads, everyone set about their appointed tasks.
