Brihaspati Warns That Ram Himself Repeats Bharata's Name

Brihaspati smiles at Indra's proposal. The guru sees through the thousand-eyed king without needing eyes of his own. Illusion used against a servant of the Lord of illusion will turn back upon the schemer.
Earlier action succeeded only because it aligned with Ram's purpose. Fresh treachery would bring ruin. Raghunath may not grow angry over offenses against himself, but harm done to his devotee burns in the fire of Ram's wrath. World, Veda, and sacred history attest it, and Durvasa learned its truth.
Then Brihaspati names the measure of Bharata's place. Who loves Ram as Bharata does? The world repeats Ram's name, but Ram himself repeats the name of Bharata. Indra's proposed obstruction stands exposed before the reciprocity it sought to manipulate.
The whole world chants Ram, Brihaspati says, but Ram chants Bharata, and no illusion may safely enter between those names.

बचन सुनत सुरगुरु मुसकाने। सहसनयन बिनु लोचन जाने।। मायापति सेवक सन माया। करइ त उलटि परइ सुरराया।। तब किछु कीन्ह राम रुख जानी। अब कुचालि करि होइहि हानी।। सुनु सुरेस रघुनाथ सुभाऊ। निज अपराध रिसाहिं न काऊ।। जो अपराधु भगत कर करई। राम रोष पावक सो जरई।। लोकहुँ बेद बिदित इतिहासा। यह महिमा जानहिं दुरबासा।। भरत सरिस को राम सनेही। जगु जप राम रामु जप जेही।।
Hearing these words, Brihaspati, the guru of the gods, smiled. Without needing eyes, he saw through the thousand-eyed Indra completely. If one tries to use maya against a servant of the Lord of Maya, that illusion will rebound upon the schemer, O king of the gods. Before, you acted knowing Rama's own wish, and He allowed it. But now, if you resort to treachery, you will come to ruin. Listen, O lord of the heavens, to the nature of Raghunath. He never grows angry over offenses committed against Himself. But whoever wrongs His devotee is consumed in the fire of Rama's wrath. This truth is known throughout the world, recorded in the Vedas, and confirmed by sacred history. Even the great sage Durvasa learned this glory firsthand. Who in all creation loves Rama as Bharat does? The whole world chants Rama's name, and Rama Himself chants the name of Bharat.
