This evening Raghubīra's city has taken on marvelous beauty. The Lord of Ayodhyā lovingly beholds the graceful rows of lamps. (1) Lines of golden lamps shine upon the summits of crystal walls, as though the jeweled, thousand-hooded Lord of Serpents had come to meet him. (2) Above the finials of every palace, clusters of gems blaze with their own light, as though countless auspicious worlds had been manifested and sent down to earth. (3) Auspicious observances fill every home, and pauper and wealthy alike rejoice as one. Tulsīdāsa sings the Lord's holy fame, which quiets the impurities of the Kali age. (4)
