मेरी यह अभिलाष बिधाता। कब पुरवै सखि सानुकूल है हरि सेवक-सुखदाता॥ १ ॥ सीता-सहित कुसल कोसलपुर आवत हैं सुत दोऊ। श्रवन-सुधा-सम बचन सखी कब आइ कहेगो कोऊ?॥ २ ॥ सुनि संदेस प्रेम-परिपूरन संभ्रम उठि धावौंगी। बदन बिलोकि रोकि लोचन-जल हरषि हिये लावौंगी॥ ३ ॥ जनकसुता कब सासु कहैं मोहि, राम लखन कहैं मैया। बाहु जोरि कब अजिर चलहिंगे स्याम-गौर दोउ भैया॥ ४ ॥ तुलसिदास यहि भाँति मनोरथ करत प्रीति अति बाढ़ी। थकित भई उर आनि राम-छबि मनहु चित्र लिखि काढ़ी॥ ५ ॥
Friend, when will the gracious Creator—Hari, giver of joy to his servants—fulfill this longing of mine? (1) When will someone come and speak these nectar-like words into my ears: ‘Your two sons are safely returning to Ayodhyā with Sītā’? (2) Hearing that love-filled message, I shall spring up in wonder and run; seeing their faces, I shall check my tears and joyfully clasp them to my heart. (3) When will Janaka’s daughter call me ‘mother-in-law,’ and Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa call me ‘mother’? When will the dark and fair brothers walk arm in arm through the courtyard? (4) Tulsīdāsa says that as she formed such wishes, her love swelled immensely. Exhausted, she held Rāma’s image in her heart and became as still as a painted figure. (5)
