There are also variant traditions concerning these sakhīs’ and mañjarīs’ names and services. Sri Sudevi’s complexion, for example, is also described as radiant molten gold: protta-śuddha-kanaka-cchavi-cāru-dehām. Alternative lists of the eight principal mañjarīs give these names in place of those above: (1) Sri Ananga Manjari, (2) Sri Madhumati Manjari, (3) Sri Vimala Manjari, (4) Sri Shyamalata Manjari, (5) Sri Palika Manjari, (6) Sri Mangala Manjari, (7) Sri Dhanya Manjari, and (8) Sri Taraka Manjari.

Two mañjarīs, or beloved tender sakhīs, are said to follow each of these eight in succession: (1) Sri Lavanga Manjari, (2) Sri Rupa Manjari, (3) Sri Rasa Manjari, (4) Sri Guna Manjari, (5) Sri Rati Manjari, (6) Sri Mridu Manjari, (7) Sri Lila Manjari, (8a) Sri Vilasa Manjari, (8b) Sri Vilasa Manjari, (10) Sri Keli Manjari, (11) Sri Kunda Manjari, (12) Sri Madana Manjari, (13) Sri Ashoka Manjari, (14) Sri Manjulila Manjari, (15) Sri Sudha Manjari, and (16) Sri Padma Manjari.

The eight principal sakhīs are also ordered differently in some traditions: Sri Rangadevi, Sri Sudevi, Sri Lalita, Sri Vishakha, Sri Champakalata, Sri Chitra, Sri Tungavidya, and Sri Indulekha; or Sri Lalita, Sri Vishakha, Sri Champakalata, Sri Indulekha, Sri Tungavidya, Sri Rangadevi, Sri Sudevi, and Sri Chitra. The sakhīs and mañjarīs are not limited to these numbers; these are simply the principal groups of eight. In the perfected body, the identity and corresponding form of a mañjarī become manifest.
