श्रीकृष्णाय नमः । कन्दर्पकोटिरम्याय स्फुरदिन्दीवरत्विषे । जगन्मोहनलीलाय नमो गोपेन्द्रसूनवे ॥ १॥

śrīkṛṣṇāya namaḥ | kandarpakoṭiramyāya sphuradindīvaratviṣe | jaganmohanalīlāya namo gopendrasūnave || 1||

Obeisance to Śrī Kṛṣṇa—to him more beautiful than millions of Love-gods, whose luster shines like a blue lotus, whose play enchants the universe, the son of the cowherd king.

कृष्णलाकृतहाराय कृष्णलावण्यशालिने । कृष्णाकूलकरीन्द्राय कृष्णाय करवै नमः ॥ २॥

kṛṣṇalākṛtahārāya kṛṣṇalāvaṇyaśāline | kṛṣṇākūlakarīndrāya kṛṣṇāya karavai namaḥ || 2||

English translation

I offer obeisance to Kṛṣṇa: wearing a necklace of dark water-lilies, endowed with dark beauty, a lordly elephant who agitates the dark-eyed girls.

सर्वानन्दकदम्बाय कन्दम्बकुसुमस्रजे । नमः प्रेमावलम्बाय प्रलम्बारिकनीयसे ॥ ३॥

कुण्डलस्फुरदंसाय वंशायत्तमुखश्रिये । राधामानसहंसाय व्रजोत्तंसाय ते नमः ॥ ४॥

kuṇḍalasphuradaṃsāya vaṃśāyattamukhaśriye | rādhāmānasahaṃsāya vrajottaṃsāya te namaḥ || 4||

Obeisance to you whose earrings flash upon your shoulders, whose facial beauty depends upon the flute, the swan upon Rādhā's mind-lake, the crest-jewel of Vraja.

नमः शिखण्डचूडाय दण्डमण्डितपाणये । कुण्डलीकृतपुष्पाय पुण्डरीकेक्षणाय ते ॥ ५॥

I bow to Govinda, whose heart rejoices in the sweetness of the honey-wine of Rādhikā's love and whose beauty equals a multitude of Love-gods.

शृङ्गाररसशृङ्गारं कर्णिकारात्तकर्णिकम् । वन्दे श्रिया नवाभ्राणां बिभ्राणं विभ्रमं हरिम् ॥ ७॥

śṛṅgārarasaśṛṅgāraṃ karṇikārāttakarṇikam | vande śriyā navābhrāṇāṃ bibhrāṇaṃ vibhramaṃ harim || 7||

I bow to Hari, the very ornament of amorous rasa. A karṇikāra flower adorns his ear, and he bears the enchanting splendor of fresh rainclouds.

साध्वीमणिव्रातपश्यतोहरवेणवे । कह्लारकृतचूडाय शङ्खचूडभिदे नमः ॥ ८॥

sādhvīmaṇivrātapaśyatoharaveṇave | kahlārakṛtacūḍāya śaṅkhacūḍabhide namaḥ || 8||

Obeisance to the flute that steals the sight of hosts of jewel-like faithful women; obeisance to him whose crown is fashioned from a white water-lily, who split the demon Śaṅkhacūḍa.

I bow to the cowherd king's delight, the honeybee drinking nectar from the bandhūka flower of Rādhikā's lower lip, the lion who conquers the elephant-host of demons.

Obeisance to you, dark Kṛṣṇa-cloud, beautiful with the rainbow of a peacock feather, giver of life to the world, your body encircled by the lightning of Rādhā.

I bow to the friend of Gokula: the cloud that extinguished the rampant forest fire of the lord of the gods' pride, who made the king of mountains into a ball.

दैन्यार्णवे निमग्नोऽस्मि मन्तुग्रावभरार्दितः । दुष्टे कारुण्यपारीण मयि कृष्ण कृपां कुरु ॥ १३॥

dainyārṇave nimagno'smi mantugrāvabharārditaḥ | duṣṭe kāruṇyapārīṇa mayi kṛṣṇa kṛpāṃ kuru || 13||

I am submerged in the ocean of wretchedness and crushed by the weight of stony offenses. O Kṛṣṇa, perfect in compassion for the corrupt, show mercy to me.
