श्रीमुकुन्दाय नमः । बलभिदुपलकान्तिद्रोहिणि श्रीमदङ्गे घुसृणरसविलासैः सुष्ठु गान्धर्विकायाः । स्वमदननृपशोभां वर्धयन् देहराज्ये प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ १॥

śrīmukundāya namaḥ | balabhidupalakāntidrohiṇi śrīmadaṅge ghusṛṇarasavilāsaiḥ suṣṭhu gāndharvikāyāḥ | svamadananṛpaśobhāṃ vardhayan deharājye praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 1||

Obeisance to Śrī Mukunda. May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. His glorious limbs defy the luster of Indra's sapphire, and the play of Gāndharvikā's saffron nectar increases the beauty of the sovereign Love within the kingdom of his body.

उदितविधुपरार्धज्योतिरुल्लङ्घिवक्त्रो नवतरुणिमरज्यद्बाल्यशेषातिरम्यः । परिषदि ललितालीं दोलयन् कुण्डलाभ्यां प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ २॥

uditavidhuparārdhajyotirullaṅghivaktro navataruṇimarajyadbālyaśeṣātiramyaḥ | pariṣadi lalitālīṃ dolayan kuṇḍalābhyāṃ praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 2||

कनकनिवहशोभानन्दि पीतं नितम्बे तदुपरि नवरक्तं वस्त्रमित्थं दधानः । प्रियमिव किल वर्णं रागयुक्तं प्रियायाः प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टपूर्तिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ३॥

kanakanivahaśobhānandi pītaṃ nitambe tadupari navaraktaṃ vastramitthaṃ dadhānaḥ | priyamiva kila varṇaṃ rāgayuktaṃ priyāyāḥ praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭapūrtiṃ mukundaḥ || 3||

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. At his hips he wears yellow cloth that delights the splendor of masses of gold and, above it, fresh red cloth—as though wearing the beloved color of his passion-filled beloved.

सुरभिकुसुमवृन्धैर्वासिताम्भःसमृद्धे प्रियसरसि निदाघे सायमालीपरीताम् । मदनजनकसेकैः खेलयन्न् एव राधां प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ४॥

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. On a summer evening, at his beloved lake rich with water scented by hosts of fragrant flowers, he plays with Rādhā amid her friends, sprinkling her with showers that awaken Love.

परमलमिह लब्ध्वा हन्त गान्धर्विकायाः पुलकिततनुरुच्चैरुन्मदस्तत्क्षणेन । निखिलविपिनदेशान् वासितान् एव जिघ्रन् प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ५॥

paramalamiha labdhvā hanta gāndharvikāyāḥ pulakitatanuruccairunmadastatkṣaṇena | nikhilavipinadeśān vāsitān eva jighran praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 5||

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. Receiving here the supreme fragrance of Gāndharvikā, his body thrills and he instantly becomes intensely maddened, as though inhaling every perfumed region of the forest.

प्रणिहितभुजदण्डः स्कन्धदेशे वराङ्ग्याः स्मितविकसितगण्डे कीर्तिदाकन्यकायाः । मनसिजजनिसौख्यं चुम्बनेनैव तन्वन् प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ६॥

praṇihitabhujadaṇḍaḥ skandhadeśe varāṅgyāḥ smitavikasitagaṇḍe kīrtidākanyakāyāḥ | manasijajanisaukhyaṃ cumbanenaiva tanvan praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 6||

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. Placing the staff of his arm upon the shoulder of the beautiful daughter of Kīrtidā, whose cheeks blossom with a smile, he expands the joy that gives birth to Love with a kiss.

प्रमददनुजगोष्ठ्याः कोऽपि संवर्तवह्नि र्व्रजभुवि किल पित्रोर्मूर्तिमान् स्नेहपुञ्जः । प्रथमरसमहेन्द्रः श्यामलो राधिकायाः प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ७॥

pramadadanujagoṣṭhyāḥ ko'pi saṃvartavahni rvrajabhuvi kila pitrormūrtimān snehapuñjaḥ | prathamarasamahendraḥ śyāmalo rādhikāyāḥ praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 7||

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. He is a cosmic fire for the delighted companies of demons, yet upon the soil of Vraja he is his parents' mass of affection made visible. He is the great sovereign of primal rasa and the dark beloved of Rādhikā.

स्वकदनकथयाङ्गीकृत्य मृद्वीं विशाखां कृतचटु ललितां तु प्रार्थन् प्रौढशीलाम् । प्रणयविधुरराधामानविध्वंसनाय प्रणयतु मम नेत्राभीष्टसिद्धिं मुकुन्दः ॥ ८॥

svakadanakathayāṅgīkṛtya mṛdvīṃ viśākhāṃ kṛtacaṭu lalitāṃ tu prārthan prauḍhaśīlām | praṇayavidhurarādhāmānavidhvaṃsanāya praṇayatu mama netrābhīṣṭasiddhiṃ mukundaḥ || 8||

May Mukunda fulfill the desire of my eyes. To destroy love-stricken Rādhā's jealous pride, he tells gentle Viśākhā the story of his suffering and offers flattering pleas to Lalitā, whose character is mature and firm.

परिपठति मुकुन्दस्याष्टकं काकुभिर्यः सकलविषयसङ्गात् सन्नियम्येन्द्रियाणि । व्रजनवयुवराजो दर्शयन् स्वं सराधे स्वजनगणनमध्ये तं प्रियायास्तनोति ॥ ९॥

paripaṭhati mukundasyāṣṭakaṃ kākubhiryaḥ sakalaviṣayasaṅgāt sanniyamyendriyāṇi | vrajanavayuvarājo darśayan svaṃ sarādhe svajanagaṇanamadhye taṃ priyāyāstanoti || 9||

The person who restrains the senses from every worldly attachment and recites Mukunda's eight verses with humble appeals is shown his form together with Rādhā by the young prince of Vraja, who places that person among the companions of his beloved.
