द्वितीयं श्रीकुञ्जविहार्यष्टकं नमः कुञ्जविहारिणे । अविरतरतिबन्धुस्मेरताबन्धुरश्रीः कवलित इव राधापाङ्गभङ्गीतरङ्गैः । मुदितवदनचन्द्रश्चन्द्रकापीडधारी मुदिरमधुरकान्तिर्भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ १॥

dvitīyaṃ śrīkuñjavihāryaṣṭakaṃ namaḥ kuñjavihāriṇe | avirataratibandhusmeratābandhuraśrīḥ kavalita iva rādhāpāṅgabhaṅgītaraṅgaiḥ | muditavadanacandraścandrakāpīḍadhārī mudiramadhurakāntirbhāti kuñje vihārī || 1||

The second Śrī Kuñja-vihāry-aṣṭakam. Obeisance to him who sports in the bowers. His beauty is charming with an unbroken smile, the companion of love, and he seems swallowed by the waves of Rādhā's sidelong gestures. His moonlike face is joyful, he wears a peacock-feather crown, and his sweetness shines like a raincloud as he sports in the bower.

ततशुषिरघनानां रागमानद्धभाजां जनयति तरुणीनां मण्डले मण्डितानाम् । तटभुवि नटराजक्रीडया भानुपुत्र्या विदधदतुलचारीर्भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ २॥

tataśuṣiraghanānāṃ rāgamānaddhabhājāṃ janayati taruṇīnāṃ maṇḍale maṇḍitānām | taṭabhuvi naṭarājakrīḍayā bhānuputryā vidadhadatulacārīrbhāti kuñje vihārī || 2||

Upon the riverbank he plays like the king of dancers. For the circle of ornamented young women, he generates melodies joined to rhythmic structures from instruments with stretched skins and hollow bodies. Creating movements of unequaled beauty with the daughter of the sun, he shines as the bower's reveler.

शिखिनि कलितषड्जे कोकिले पञ्चमाढ्ये स्वयमपि नववंश्योद्दामयन् ग्राममुख्यम् । धृतमृगमदगन्धः सुष्ठु गान्धारसंज्ञं त्रिभुवनधृतिहारी भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ ३॥

The peacock sounds the tonic and the cuckoo is rich with the fifth; he himself expands the principal scale upon his new flute. Bearing the fragrance of musk and perfectly sounding the note called gāndhāra, he steals the composure of the three worlds and shines as the bower's reveler.

Holding Rādhā's finger upon the incomparable branch of his hand, he wanders lightly and quickly through the flower garden. The young women of Vraja, their voices like many-colored birds, follow and sing loudly with enthusiasm. He shines as the bower's reveler.

अहिरिपुकृतलास्ये कीचकारब्धवाद्ये व्रजगिरितटरङ्गे भृङ्गसङ्गीतभाजि । विरचितपरिचर्याश्चित्रतौर्यत्रिकेण स्तिमितकरणवृत्तिर्भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ ५॥

On the stage at the foot of Vraja's mountain, peacocks create a dance, reeds begin their music, and bees provide song. Served by this wondrous ensemble of dance, music, and instrumental sound, the movements of his senses become still. He shines as the bower's reveler.

दिशि दिशि शुकशारीमण्डलैर्गूढलीलाः प्रकटमनुपठद्भिर्निर्मिताश्चर्यपूरः । तदतिरहसि वृत्तं प्रेयसीकर्णमूले स्मितमुखमभिजल्पन् भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ ६॥

diśi diśi śukaśārīmaṇḍalairgūḍhalīlāḥ prakaṭamanupaṭhadbhirnirmitāścaryapūraḥ | tadatirahasi vṛttaṃ preyasīkarṇamūle smitamukhamabhijalpan bhāti kuñje vihārī || 6||

In every direction circles of male and female parrots openly recite his hidden sports, creating a flood of wonder. Smiling, he whispers into his beloved's ear what happened in deepest secrecy. He shines as the bower's reveler.

तव चिकुरकदम्बं स्तम्भते प्रेक्ष्य केकी नयनकमललक्ष्मीर्वन्दते कृष्णसारः । अलिरलमलकान्तं नौति पश्येति राधां सुमधुरमनुशंसन् भाति कुञ्जे विहारी ॥ ७॥

tava cikurakadambaṃ stambhate prekṣya kekī nayanakamalalakṣmīrvandate kṛṣṇasāraḥ | aliralamalakāntaṃ nauti paśyeti rādhāṃ sumadhuramanuśaṃsan bhāti kuñje vihārī || 7||

‘Seeing the mass of your hair, the peacock stands motionless; the blackbuck bows to the splendor of your lotus eyes; and the bee praises the beauty at the ends of your locks—look, Rādhā!’ Sweetly extolling her in this way, he shines as the bower's reveler.

A circle of young women made restless by Love serves him as he teaches many exquisite arts in every direction. His broad, renowned arm rests upon his beloved's shoulder where her arrangement of hair has come loose. He shines as the bower's reveler.

इदमनुपमलीलाहारि कुञ्जविहारी स्मरणपदमधीते तुष्टधीरष्टकं यः । निजगणवृतया श्रीराधया राधितस्तं नयति निजपदाब्जं कुञ्जसद्माधिराजः ॥ ९॥

idamanupamalīlāhāri kuñjavihārī smaraṇapadamadhīte tuṣṭadhīraṣṭakaṃ yaḥ | nijagaṇavṛtayā śrīrādhayā rādhitastaṃ nayati nijapadābjaṃ kuñjasadmādhirājaḥ || 9||
