श्रीकृष्णः परमानन्दो गोविन्दो नन्दनन्दनः । तमालश्यामलरुचिः शिखण्डकृतशेखरः ॥ १॥

śrīkṛṣṇaḥ paramānando govindo nandanandanaḥ | tamālaśyāmalaruciḥ śikhaṇḍakṛtaśekharaḥ || 1||

Śrī Kṛṣṇa is supreme bliss: Govinda, the delight of Nanda, darkly radiant as a tamāla tree, his crown fashioned with a peacock feather.

पीतकौशेयवसनो मधुरस्मितशोभितः । कन्दर्पकोटिलावण्यो वृन्दारण्यमहोत्सवः ॥ २॥

pītakauśeyavasano madhurasmitaśobhitaḥ | kandarpakoṭilāvaṇyo vṛndāraṇyamahotsavaḥ || 2||

He wears yellow silk and shines with a sweet smile. His loveliness equals millions of Love-gods, and he is the great festival of Vṛndāvana forest.

वैजयन्तीस्फुरद्वक्षाः कक्षात्तलगुडोत्तमः । कुञ्जापितरतिर्गुञ्जापुञ्जमञ्जुलकण्ठकः ॥ ३॥

vaijayantīsphuradvakṣāḥ kakṣāttalaguḍottamaḥ | kuñjāpitaratirguñjāpuñjamañjulakaṇṭhakaḥ || 3||

The Vaijayantī garland flashes upon his chest, and an excellent cowherding stick rests beneath his arm. He has entrusted his love to the bowers, and clusters of guñjā berries beautify his throat.

कर्णिकाराढ्यकर्णश्रीधृतिस्वर्णाभवर्णकः । मुरलीवादनपटुर्वल्लवीकुलवल्लभः ॥ ४॥

karṇikārāḍhyakarṇaśrīdhṛtisvarṇābhavarṇakaḥ | muralīvādanapaṭurvallavīkulavallabhaḥ || 4||

Karṇikāra flowers enrich the beauty of his ears; his complexion bears a golden luster. He is expert in playing the flute and is the beloved of the whole company of cowherd maidens.

गान्धर्वाप्तिमहापर्वा राधाराधनपेशलः । इति श्रीकृष्णचन्द्रस्य नाम विंशतिसंज्ञितम् ॥ ५॥

gāndharvāptimahāparvā rādhārādhanapeśalaḥ | iti śrīkṛṣṇacandrasya nāma viṃśatisaṃjñitam || 5||

English translation

He is the great festival of attaining Gāndharvā and is skilled in adoring Rādhā. Thus have the twenty names of moonlike Śrī Kṛṣṇa been declared.

आनन्दाख्यं महास्तोत्रं यः पठेच्छृणुयाच्च यः । स परं सौख्यमासाद्य कृष्णप्रेमसमन्वितः ॥ ६॥

ānandākhyaṃ mahāstotraṃ yaḥ paṭhecchṛṇuyācca yaḥ | sa paraṃ saukhyamāsādya kṛṣṇapremasamanvitaḥ || 6||

English translation

Whoever reads or hears this great hymn named Ānanda attains the highest happiness and becomes endowed with love for Kṛṣṇa.

सर्वलोकप्रियो भूत्वा सद्गुणावलिभूषितः । व्रजराजकुमारस्य सन्निकर्षमवाप्नुयात् ॥ ७॥

sarvalokapriyo bhūtvā sadguṇāvalibhūṣitaḥ | vrajarājakumārasya sannikarṣamavāpnuyāt || 7||

English translation

Becoming dear to everyone and adorned with a garland of noble qualities, that person attains the intimate presence of the prince of Vraja.
