What shall I say about the eyes That efface the pride Of the fawn, the fish and the khañjana bird? Listen, O Beautiful One, How long have you taught them The wiles of enchantment and subjugation? With sidelong glances, fearless, unsteady, Penetrating, red, black and white:' Whence were they created? These eye glances. As sweet and intoxicating as honey. Fear not but seize everything of others. O Passionate Lady, Your eye didn’t look at me fully With even a little favor! Śrī Hit Harivaṃśa says, O beautiful Swan-gaited Lady, Do what you like for love!

O sakhī listen. Why don’t you agree With a single thing that I say? Why do you differ with your Lover —Who is your life— Without fault on his part? When the Beloved looks at your moon-like face. You your own foot stare at With countenance cast down! Tickling your sweet chin, he coaxes you— But you, O Passionate Lady, Push aside his hand with your hand! Helpless, irresolute and very much distressed Because of separation He has no thought for what is appropriate or inappropriate. Śrī Hit Harivaṃśa asks. Having met the Lover in solitude. Why not satisfy his thirsty eyes?

In the beautiful retreat— amid sonorous anklets And the natural and unusual sound of the belt of tiny bells— The Lord cries. Stop! Stop! The meeting of the Lord of Adolescents And his Beloved (the Swan and His Mate) Bathes Harivaṃśa’ eyes with excellent sweet rasa.

Her garland crushed. The waistband loosened: Her garment was stained with collyrium and betel juice. The Crown Jewel of those who know the numerous Arts of sexual love, she winks with bent Eyebrows— according to the rules. Being as subject as a greedy bee. The Beloved, watching. Snaps his fingers. The King, the Crown Jewel among lovers In numbers of virtues, teases And pulls at her garment, necklace and brooch. Naked, she is like a golden column— The length of her braid like a snake. Ardently, The Passionate Lady in the bower embraces her Lover’s neck. Śrī Hft Harivaṃśa says thatRādhikā —With the beautiful name and breasts that are domes of gold— Tired from sexual dalliance, looks beautiful with her Lord.

The Passionate Lady with the swan’s charming walk Incites to love’s madness. The color of henna Gives brightness to her nails. She has a lustrous appearance and sweetness in all her limbs. Even without ornaments The Fair One of Braj is adorned. At every moment expert in the motions of the sudhaṅga dance. Ardent in her knowledge of the sexual arts. She plunges and rises through an ocean of rasa. Confined at the nipples of her young breasts. Like golden lotuses, is the unsteady and bee-like Mind of Mohan, the Lover. The eyes of her Beloved Are a pair of khañjana birds. Bound by various bands and cords.
