First of all, according to my best judgment, I shall salute The very delightful Śrī Vṛndāvana.' Without the compassion Of Śrī Rādhikā It is unapproachable to the minds of all. The precious water Of the Yamuna irrigates Its eternal autumns and springs. The perfume of various Kinds of flowers intoxicates Whole clans of bees. Cuckoos and parrots call Amid the dark red, Tender mango leaves. Tribes of peacocks dance— Tremulous With great bliss. The pleasure-giving wind Blows cool and gentle And fragrant. Red, blue and white: The blossom lotuses Everywhere, The very charming temple In the new bower Appears splendid. Multitudes of loving Kamadevas And their attendants Worship daily: The Crown of Lovers, The Couple, Śyāmā and Śyāma, Play. Beautified by each other’s arms They arose sleepless At dawn. The one with the handsome. Dark body is adorned With a golden yellow garment. The Passionate Lady wears a blue garment And bosom over her A bodice of lovely kusum color. The cymbal, violin. Kettledrum and tambourine play And the sweet mṛdaṅga. The lovely flute and the carhg, Which is played in the mouth, Declare the song’s beautiful rhythm. Blending, the two sing A HolT song To the Gaurī Raga.' ' (The eyes press down The bows of the eyebrows And forcefully pierce the deer of the mind!) They both clap hands And sway. Going to and fro. Ho Ho Holī! They cry. Very blissful and pleasure-filled. The Passionate Lady Casts red powder On the Darling, her Lover. The Beloved aims again and again And sprinkles her from syringes, > Filled with kumkum.’ Sometimes they made Resplendent swings In the sandal trees. Ascendent, the Two, Swinging and thrilling. Make merry. The precious swing Is shaking. The Passionate Lady fears very much. Thrilled again and again— Her body trembling. She clasps the chest of her Lover. The hearts of her own Well-wishing maids Cannot contain their bliss: Having gazed excessively with their eyes (Their happiness having burst all bounds), They threw themselves away! They both are very bountiful, beautiful. Tender and brave In sexual dalliance. Śrī Hit Harivaṃśa says Let those Two always act In their everlasting retreat!
