नारायण उवाच ।। शिवं प्रणम्य स भृगुर्दुर्गां कालीं मुदाऽन्वितः ।। गत्वा पुष्करतीर्थ च मन्त्रसिद्धिं चकार ह।१।। स बभूव निराहारो मासं भक्तिसमन्वितः ।। ध्यायन्कृष्णपदाम्भोजं वायुरोधं चकार सः ।।२।। ददर्श चक्षुरुन्मील्य गगनं तेजसा वृतम् ।। दिशो दश द्योतयन्तं समाच्छन्नदिवाकरम् ।।३।। तेजोमण्डलमध्यस्थं रत्नयानं ददर्श ह ।। ददर्श तत्र पुरुषमत्यन्तं सुन्दरं वरम्।।४।। ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यं भक्तानुग्रहकारकम् ।। प्रणम्य दण्डवन्मूर्ध्ना वरं वव्रे तमीश्वरम् ।।५।। त्रिस्सप्तकृत्वो निर्भूपां करिष्यामि महीमिति ।। पादारविन्दे सुदृढां तां भक्तिमनपायिनीम्।।६।। दास्यं सुदुर्ल्लभं शश्ववत्पादाब्जे च देहि मे ।। कृष्णस्तस्मै वरं दत्त्वा तत्रैवान्तरधीयत।।७।। भृगुः प्रणम्य भवनं तज्जगाम परात्परम्।। पस्पन्द दक्षिणाङ्गं च परं मङ्गलसूचकम्।।८।। वाञ्छा प्रतीतिजननं सुस्वप्नं च ददर्श ह ।। मनः प्रसन्नं स्फीतं च तद्बभूव दिवानिशम् ।। भाष्य स्वजनं सर्वं गृहे तस्थौ मुदाऽन्वितः ।। ।। ९ ।। स्वशिष्यान्पितृशिष्यांश्च भ्रातृवर्गांश्च बान्धवान् ।। आनीयानीय विविधान्मन्त्रांश्च स चकार ह ।।3.33.१०।। पौर्वापर्य्यं स्ववृत्तान्तं तानेवोक्त्वा शुभक्षणे ।। तैरेव सार्द्धं बलवान्बभूव गमनोन्मुखः ।। ११ ।। ददर्श मङ्गलं रामः शुश्राव जयसूचकम् ।। बुबुधे मनसा सर्वं स्वजयं वैरिसंक्षयम्।।१२।। यात्राकाले च पुरतः शुश्राव सहसा मुनिः ।। हरिशब्दं सिंहशब्दं घण्टादुन्दुभिवादनम्।।१३।। आकाशवाणीसंगीतं जयस्ते भवितेति च ।। नवेङ्गितं च कल्याणं मेघशब्दं जयावहम् ।।१४।। चकार यात्रां भगवाञ्छ्रुत्वैवं विविधं शुभम् ।। ददर्श पुरतो विप्रबन्दिदैवज्ञभिक्षुकान् ।।१५।। ज्वलत्प्रदीपं दधतीं पतिपुत्रवतीं सतीम्।। पुरो ददर्श स्मेरास्यां नानाभूषणभूषिताम् ।। ।। १६ ।। शिवं शिवां पूर्णकुम्भं चाषं च नकुलं तथा ।। गच्छन्ददर्श रामश्च यात्रामंगलसूचकम् ।। १७ ।। कृष्णसारं गजं सिंहं तुरगं गण्डकं द्विपम् ।। चमरीं राजहंसं च चक्रवाकं शुकं पिकम् ।। १८ ।। मयूरं खञ्जनं चैव शंखचिल्लं चकोरकम् ।। पारावतं बलाकं च कारण्डं चातकं चटम् ।। १९ ।। सौदामनीं शक्रचापं सूर्य्यं सूर्याप्रभां शुभाम् ।। सद्योमांसं सजीवं च मत्स्यं शङ्खं सुवर्णकम् ।। 3.33.२० ।। माणिक्यं रजतं मुक्तां मणीन्द्रं च प्रवालकम् ।। दधि लाजाञ्छुक्लधान्यं शुक्लपुष्पं च कुङ्कुमम् ।। २१ ।। पर्णं पताकां छत्रं च दर्पणं श्वेतचामरम् ।। धेनुं वत्सप्रयुक्तां च रथस्थं भूमिपं तथा ।। २२ ।। दुग्धमाज्यं तथा पूगममृतं पायसं तथा ।। शालग्रामं पक्वफलं स्वस्तिकं शर्करां मधु ।।२३।। मार्ज्जारं च वृषेन्द्रं च मेषं पर्वतमूषिकम् ।। मेघाच्छन्नस्य च रवेरुदयं चन्द्रमण्डलम्'।। ।। २४ ।। कस्तूरीं व्यजनं तोयं हरिद्रां तीर्थमृत्तिकाम् ।। सिद्धार्थं सर्षपं दूर्वां विप्रवालं च बालिकाम् ।। २५ ।। मृगं वेश्यां षट्पदं च कर्पूरं पीतवाससम् ।। गो मूत्रं गोपुरीषं च गोधूलिं गोपदाङ्कितम् ।। २६ ।। गोष्ठं गवां वर्त्म रम्यां गोशालां गोगतिं शुभाम् ।। भूषणं देवमूर्तिं च ज्वलदग्निं महोत्सवम् ।।२७।। ताम्रं च स्फटिकं वन्द्यं सिन्दूरं माल्यचन्दनम् ।। गन्धं च हीरकं रत्नं ददर्श दक्षिणे शुभम् ।।२८।। सुगन्धिवायोराघ्राणं प्राप विप्राशिषं शुभाम् ।। २९ ।। इत्येवं मङ्गलं ज्ञात्वा प्रययौ स मुदाऽन्वितः ।। अस्तं गते दिनकरे नर्म्मदातीरसन्निधौ।।3.33.३०।। तत्राक्षयवटं दिव्यं ददर्श सुमनोहरम् ।। अत्यूर्ध्वं विस्तृतमतिपुण्याश्रमपदं परम्।।३ १।। पौलस्त्यतपसः स्थानं सुगन्धिमरुदन्वितम्।। कार्तवीर्य्यार्जुनाभ्याशे तत्र तस्थौ गणैः सह।।३२।। सुष्वाप पुष्पशय्यायां किङ्करैः परिसेवितः।। निद्रां ययौ परिश्रान्तः परमानन्दसंगतः।।३३।। निशातीते च स भृगुश्चारु स्वप्नं ददर्श ह ।। न चिन्तितं यन्मनसा वायुपित्तकफं विना ।। ३४ ।। गजाश्वशैलप्रासादगोवृक्षफलितेषु च ।। आरुह्यमाणमात्मानं रुदन्तं कृमिभक्षितम् ।। ३५ ।। आरुह्यमाणमात्मानं नौकायां चन्दनोक्षितम् ।। धृतवन्तं पुष्पमालां शोभितं पीतवाससा ।। ३६ ।। विण्मूत्रोक्षितसर्वांगं वसापूयसमन्वितम् ।। वीणां वरां वादयन्तमात्मानं च ददर्श ह ।। ३७ ।। विस्तीर्णपद्मपत्त्रैश्च स्वं ददर्श सरित्तटे ।। दध्याज्यमधुसंयुक्तं भुक्तवन्तं च पायसम् ।। ३८ ।। भुक्तवन्तं च ताम्बूलं लभन्तं ब्राह्मणाशिषम्।। फलपुष्पप्रदीपं च पश्यन्तं स्वं ददर्श ह।।३९। परिपक्वफलं क्षीरमुष्णान्नं शर्करान्वितम् ।। स्वस्तिकं भुक्तवन्तं स्वं ददर्श च पुनः पुनः ।। 3.33.४० ।। जलौकसा वृश्चिकेन मीनेन भुजगेन च ।। भक्षितं भीतमात्मानं पलायन्तं ददर्श सः ।। ।। ४१ ।। ततो ददर्श चात्मानं मण्डलं चन्द्रसूर्य्ययोः ।। पतिपुत्रवतीं नारीं पश्यन्तं सस्मितं द्विजः ।। ४२ ।। सुवेषया कन्यका स स्मितेन द्विजेन च ।। ददर्श श्लिष्टमात्मानं तुष्टेन परितुष्टया ।। ४३ ।। फलितं पुष्पितं वृक्षं देवताप्रतिमां नृपम् ।। गजस्थं च रथस्थं च पश्यन्तं स्वं ददर्श ह ।। ४४ ।। पीतवस्त्रपरीधानां रत्नालङ्कारभूषिताम् ।। विशन्तीं ब्राह्मणो गेहं पश्यन्तं स्वं ददर्श ह ।। ४५ ।। शंखं च स्फटिकं श्वेतमालां मुक्तां च चन्दनम् ।। सुवर्णं रजतं रत्नं पश्यन्तं स्वं ददर्श ह ।। ४६ ।। गजं वृषं च सर्पं च श्वेतं च श्वेतचामरम् ।। नीलोत्पलं दर्पणं च भार्गवो वै ददर्श ह ।। ४७ ।। रथस्थं नवरत्नाढ्यं मालतीमाल्यभूषितम् ।। रत्नसिंहासनस्थं स्वं भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ४८ ।। पद्मश्रेणीं पूर्णकुम्भं दधि लाजान्घृतं मधु ।। पर्णच्छत्रं छत्रिणं च भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ४९ ।। बकपंक्तिं हंसपंक्तिं कन्यापंक्तिं व्रतान्विताम् ।। पूजयन्तो घटं शुभ्रं भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। 3.33.५० ।। मण्डपस्थं द्विजगणं पूजयन्तं हरं हरिम् ।। जयोऽस्त्वित्युक्तवन्तं तं भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ५१ ।। सुधावृष्टिं पर्णवृष्टिं फलवृष्टिं च शाश्वतीम् ।। पुष्पचन्दनवृष्टिं च भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ५२ ।। सद्योमांसं जीवमत्स्यं मयूरं श्वेतखञ्जनम् ।। सरोवरं च तीर्थानि भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ५३ ।। पारावतं शुकं चाषं शंखं चिल्लं च चातकम् ।। व्याघ्रं सिंहं च सुरभीं भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।।५४।। गोरोचनां हरिद्रां च शुक्लधान्याचलं वरम् ।। ज्वलदग्निं तथा दूर्वां भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।।५५।। देवालयसमूहं च शिवलिंगं च पूजितम् ।। अर्चितां मृन्मयीं शैवां भृगुः स्वप्ने ददर्श ह ।। ५६ ।। यवगोधूमचूर्णानां भक्ष्याणि विविधानि च ।। भृगुर्ददर्श स्वप्ने च बुभुजे च पुनः पुनः ।। ५७ ।। दिव्यवस्त्रपरीधाना रत्नभूषणभूषिताः ।। अगम्यागमनं स्वप्ने चकार भृगुनन्दनः ।।५८।। ददर्श नर्त्तकीं वेश्यां रुधिरं च सुरां पपौ ।। रुधिरोक्षितसर्वाङ्गः स्वप्ने च भृगुनन्दनः ।। ५९ ।। पक्षिणां पीतवर्णानां मानुषाणां च नारद ।। मांसानि बुभुजे रामो हृष्टः स्वप्नेऽरुणोदये ।। 3.33.६० ।। अकस्मान्निगडैर्बद्धं क्षतं शस्त्रेण स्वं पुनः ।। दृष्ट्वा च बुबुधे प्रातः समुत्तस्थौ हरिं स्मरन्।। ६१ ।। अतीव हृष्टः स्वप्नेन प्रातःकृत्यं चकार सः ।। मनसा बुबुधे सर्वं विजेष्यामि रिपुं ध्रुवम् ।। ६२ ।। इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवत्ते महापुराणे तृतीये गणपति खण्डे नारदनारायणसंवादे त्रयस्त्रिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः ।। ३३ ।।

nārāyaṇa uvāca || śivaṃ praṇamya sa bhṛgurdurgāṃ kālīṃ mudā'nvitaḥ || gatvā puṣkaratīrtha ca mantrasiddhiṃ cakāra ha|1|| sa babhūva nirāhāro māsaṃ bhaktisamanvitaḥ || dhyāyankṛṣṇapadāmbhojaṃ vāyurodhaṃ cakāra saḥ ||2|| dadarśa cakṣurunmīlya gaganaṃ tejasā vṛtam || diśo daśa dyotayantaṃ samācchannadivākaram ||3|| tejomaṇḍalamadhyasthaṃ ratnayānaṃ dadarśa ha || dadarśa tatra puruṣamatyantaṃ sundaraṃ varam||4|| īṣaddhāsyaprasannāsyaṃ bhaktānugrahakārakam || praṇamya daṇḍavanmūrdhnā varaṃ vavre tamīśvaram ||5|| trissaptakṛtvo nirbhūpāṃ kariṣyāmi mahīmiti || pādāravinde sudṛḍhāṃ tāṃ bhaktimanapāyinīm||6|| dāsyaṃ sudurllabhaṃ śaśvavatpādābje ca dehi me || kṛṣṇastasmai varaṃ dattvā tatraivāntaradhīyata||7|| bhṛguḥ praṇamya bhavanaṃ tajjagāma parātparam|| paspanda dakṣiṇāṅgaṃ ca paraṃ maṅgalasūcakam||8|| vāñchā pratītijananaṃ susvapnaṃ ca dadarśa ha || manaḥ prasannaṃ sphītaṃ ca tadbabhūva divāniśam || bhāṣya svajanaṃ sarvaṃ gṛhe tasthau mudā'nvitaḥ || || 9 || svaśiṣyānpitṛśiṣyāṃśca bhrātṛvargāṃśca bāndhavān || ānīyānīya vividhānmantrāṃśca sa cakāra ha ||3.33.10|| paurvāparyyaṃ svavṛttāntaṃ tānevoktvā śubhakṣaṇe || taireva sārddhaṃ balavānbabhūva gamanonmukhaḥ || 11 || dadarśa maṅgalaṃ rāmaḥ śuśrāva jayasūcakam || bubudhe manasā sarvaṃ svajayaṃ vairisaṃkṣayam||12|| yātrākāle ca purataḥ śuśrāva sahasā muniḥ || hariśabdaṃ siṃhaśabdaṃ ghaṇṭādundubhivādanam||13|| ākāśavāṇīsaṃgītaṃ jayaste bhaviteti ca || naveṅgitaṃ ca kalyāṇaṃ meghaśabdaṃ jayāvaham ||14|| cakāra yātrāṃ bhagavāñchrutvaivaṃ vividhaṃ śubham || dadarśa purato viprabandidaivajñabhikṣukān ||15|| jvalatpradīpaṃ dadhatīṃ patiputravatīṃ satīm|| puro dadarśa smerāsyāṃ nānābhūṣaṇabhūṣitām || || 16 || śivaṃ śivāṃ pūrṇakumbhaṃ cāṣaṃ ca nakulaṃ tathā || gacchandadarśa rāmaśca yātrāmaṃgalasūcakam || 17 || kṛṣṇasāraṃ gajaṃ siṃhaṃ turagaṃ gaṇḍakaṃ dvipam || camarīṃ rājahaṃsaṃ ca cakravākaṃ śukaṃ pikam || 18 || mayūraṃ khañjanaṃ caiva śaṃkhacillaṃ cakorakam || pārāvataṃ balākaṃ ca kāraṇḍaṃ cātakaṃ caṭam || 19 || saudāmanīṃ śakracāpaṃ sūryyaṃ sūryāprabhāṃ śubhām || sadyomāṃsaṃ sajīvaṃ ca matsyaṃ śaṅkhaṃ suvarṇakam || 3.33.20 || māṇikyaṃ rajataṃ vāyupittakaphaṃ vinā || 34 || gajāśvaśailaprāsādagovṛkṣaphaliteṣu ca || āruhyamāṇamātmānaṃ rudantaṃ kṛmibhakṣitam || 35 || āruhyamāṇamātmānaṃ naukāyāṃ candanokṣitam || dhṛtavantaṃ puṣpamālāṃ śobhitaṃ candrasūryyayoḥ || patiputravatīṃ nārīṃ paśyantaṃ sasmitaṃ dvijaḥ || 42 || suveṣayā kanyakā sa smitena dvijena ca || dadarśa śliṣṭamātmānaṃ tuṣṭena parituṣṭayā || 43 || phalitaṃ puṣpitaṃ vṛkṣaṃ devatāpratimāṃ nṛpam || gajasthaṃ ca rathasthaṃ ca paśyantaṃ svaṃ dadarśa ha || 44 || pītavastraparīdhānāṃ ratnālaṅkārabhūṣitām || viśantīṃ brāhmaṇo gehaṃ paśyantaṃ svaṃ dadarśa ha || 45 || śaṃkhaṃ ca sphaṭikaṃ śvetamālāṃ muktāṃ ca candanam || suvarṇaṃ rajataṃ ratnaṃ paśyantaṃ svaṃ dadarśa ha || 46 || gajaṃ vṛṣaṃ ca sarpaṃ ca śvetaṃ ca śvetacāmaram || nīlotpalaṃ darpaṇaṃ ca bhārgavo vai dadarśa ha || 47 || rathasthaṃ navaratnāḍhyaṃ mālatīmālyabhūṣitam || ratnasiṃhāsanasthaṃ svaṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 48 || padmaśreṇīṃ pūrṇakumbhaṃ dadhi lājānghṛtaṃ madhu || parṇacchatraṃ chatriṇaṃ ca bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 49 || bakapaṃktiṃ haṃsapaṃktiṃ kanyāpaṃktiṃ vratānvitām || pūjayanto ghaṭaṃ śubhraṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 3.33.50 || maṇḍapasthaṃ dvijagaṇaṃ pūjayantaṃ haraṃ harim || jayo'stvityuktavantaṃ taṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 51 || sudhāvṛṣṭiṃ parṇavṛṣṭiṃ phalavṛṣṭiṃ ca śāśvatīm || puṣpacandanavṛṣṭiṃ ca bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 52 || sadyomāṃsaṃ jīvamatsyaṃ mayūraṃ śvetakhañjanam || sarovaraṃ ca tīrthāni bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 53 || pārāvataṃ śukaṃ cāṣaṃ śaṃkhaṃ cillaṃ ca cātakam || vyāghraṃ siṃhaṃ ca surabhīṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha ||54|| gorocanāṃ haridrāṃ ca śukladhānyācalaṃ varam || jvaladagniṃ tathā dūrvāṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha ||55|| devālayasamūhaṃ ca śivaliṃgaṃ ca pūjitam || arcitāṃ mṛnmayīṃ śaivāṃ bhṛguḥ svapne dadarśa ha || 56 || yavagodhūmacūrṇānāṃ bhakṣyāṇi vividhāni ca || bhṛgurdadarśa svapne ca bubhuje ca punaḥ punaḥ || 57 || divyavastraparīdhānā ratnabhūṣaṇabhūṣitāḥ || agamyāgamanaṃ svapne cakāra bhṛgunandanaḥ ||58|| dadarśa narttakīṃ veśyāṃ rudhiraṃ ca surāṃ papau || rudhirokṣitasarvāṅgaḥ svapne ca bhṛgunandanaḥ || 59 || pakṣiṇāṃ pītavarṇānāṃ mānuṣāṇāṃ ca nārada || māṃsāni bubhuje rāmo hṛṣṭaḥ svapne'ruṇodaye || 3.33.60 || akasmānnigaḍairbaddhaṃ kṣataṃ śastreṇa svaṃ punaḥ || dṛṣṭvā ca bubudhe prātaḥ samuttasthau hariṃ smaran|| 61 || atīva hṛṣṭaḥ svapnena prātaḥkṛtyaṃ cakāra saḥ || manasā bubudhe sarvaṃ vijeṣyāmi ripuṃ dhruvam || 62 || iti śrībrahmavaivatte mahāpurāṇe tṛtīye gaṇapati khaṇḍe nāradanārāyaṇasaṃvāde trayastriṃśattamo'dhyāyaḥ || 33 ||

English translation

Narayana said - Bhrgu bowed in reverence to Siva, Durga and Kali. Thereafter he proceeded to Puskara-ksetra and started reciting the mantra there. With his devoted mind he performed a tapas without consuming anything for a month.

He always devoted his mind at the lotus-like feet of lord Krsna and ultimately he stopped inhaling even the air.

When he opened his eyes he found a fall of lustre in the sky which pervaded all the ten directions and even the sun. In that fall of lustre, he found a plane studded with gems, in which a beautiful person seated who was wearing a serene smile on his face, who was delightful and always showered his grace on his devotees. He prostrated before the lord lowering his head and prayed for a boon, "You bestow me strength enough to rid the earth of the Ksatriyas twenty one times. I should always remain devoted to your lotus-like feet and should achieve your Lord Krsna granted him the boon and disappeared from the scene.

Bhrgu also bowing in reverence to the eternal lord went to his abode. His right limbs then started fluttering which was indicative of his achieving success. He also witnessed the dream which pointed out towards achieving success.

Since then ParasurSma always remained delighted in his mind. He narrated the entire story of his own people of the family and spent Thereafter by collecting his own pupils, the pupils of his father, the brothers and other relatives, he started imparting to them the knowledge of the mantras.

At an auspicious moment all of them got ready to accompany Parasurama for waging the war.

ParasurSma at that point of time heard the sound of victory and welfare which reassured him and he thought, "I shall be victorious and the enemies will be destroyed."

At the time of starting on the journey, he suddenly listened to the sound of the moving of the horses, the blowing of conches, sounding of bells and big drums and also the divine voice from the sky saying, "You will be victorious."

Many welfare signs became visible and thundering of the sound indicative of victory was also heard.

Lord Parasurama thus continued to hear the various types of welfare sounds and he ultimately started journey. At that point of time he found in front the Brahmanas, fire, the astrologers, Samnydsf, burning lamps held in hands by chaste women whose husbands and sons were alive. These ladies wore a serene smile on the faces, were quite delightful and were adorned with several types of ornaments.

While performing the journey Parasurama found the jackals, she-jackals, filled vases, Nllakantha, mangooses and other auspicious Tirigi?if? o II Again he found the black buck, elephant, lions, horses, gandaka, spotted cow, geese, ruddy partridge bird, pigeon, sky-lark, green pigeon, cuckoo, the sparrows, lightning, the rainbow, sun and sun rays, fresh meat, fish which were alike, gold, jewels, silver, gems, coral, curd, fried paddy, white cereals, white flowers, saffron, palasa, banners, umbrella, mirror, white fly-whisks, cow with calf, king mounted on the chariot, milk, ghee, betel-nut, nectar, payasam, Salagrama, ripe fruits, svastika, sugar, honey, cat, bull, sheep mountain-rat, the sun covered with clouds, disk of the moon, kastiirl, fan, water, turmeric, earth of the holy places, mustard seeds, Brahmana boy, durva-gxd&s, a girl child, deer, whore, black-wasps, camphor, yellow garment, urine of cow, cowdung, prints of cow's

hoofs, rising dust of the evening, the abode of cow, their path-way, gosald, the moving of the cows, ornaments, images of the gods, fire in flames, festivities, copper, crystal, adorable, rosary of vermilion, sandal-paste, fragrance, jewel and gem to his right.

Besides the fragrant breeze was blowing which was inhaled by him and the Brahmanas blessed him.

Thus finding the auspicious time Parasurama delightfully started the journey, by sun-set he reached the bank of Narmada and found the eternal banyan tree which was quite high and of gigantic proportions. He went close to the It happened to be the place for performing tapas by Pulastya. The fragrant breeze always blew there. Parasurama halted at a place close to the place of Kartavlrya, he slept on the bed of flowers and the attendants were serving him.

Feeling fatigued, he went to sleep delightfully.

At the last leg of the night the witnessed a dream without the influence of cough, vdyu and pitta which was not thought over by anyone.

In that dream he found the elephants, horses, mountains, palaces, cows and fruits, climbing on the tree with him. He found the tree being eaten away by crying insects. He found himself boarded on a boat and all his limbs were decorated with sandal-paste, flower garlands and he was clad in yellow garments. He found himself plastered with refuse, urine, fat and puss, playing on vind.

He found curd having been placed on the wide-spread lotus leaves besides ghee, honey and the pdyasam being consumed by him. He also found himself chewing betel accepting blessing of the Brahmanas; accepting fruits and flowers and burning lamps.

He consumed ripe fruits, pdyasam with sugar and hard food besides svastika. He found himself in this condition again and again.

The leeches, scorpions, fish and snakes, were biting him and he found himself running in panic from them. Thereafter the same Brahmana, witnessed besides himself the sun, the moon and their regions, the ladies having their husbands and sons alive smiling serenely besides the smiling Brahmanas, he also found well-dressed girls and the Brahmanas who were smiling with satisfaction and embracing him.

He saw the trees blossoming with fruits and flowers, images of the gods, the king and the elephant and he found himself mounted on a Wearing yellow garment, adorned with ornaments of gems, he found a Brahmana lady coming before him.

He found himself looking at the conch, the crystal, white rosary, jewels, sandal-paste, gold, silver and the jewels.

Bhargava then also saw the elephant, the bull, the snake, the white fly-whisks, blue lotus and the mirror.

Parasurama found himself seated on a gem- studded lion-throne in the dream, wearing fresh ornaments of gems, garlands of jasmine flowers.

He also found the line of lotuses, vases filled with water, curd, fried paddy, ghee, honey and an umbrella of leaves on his head.

He found a line of skylarks, geese and the girls who had been performing vratas, adoring him holding kalasa in their hands. Parasurama saw this dream.

Adoring Siva and Visnu seated in Mandapa the Brahmana spoke to him, "You will be This was the dream witnessed by The rain of nectar and leaves besides fruits, flowers and sandal-paste was also witnessed by The fresh meat, the moving fish, the peacock, white partridge birds and the stream were witnessed by Parasurama in dream. He also saw the pigeons, parrots, Nllakantha, white kite, tiger, lion and cow in the dream.

Bhrgu also witnessed Gorocana» turmeric, fire in flames, heaps of rice and Zlurva-grass was witnessed by him in the dream.

He also found a group of temples, adorable Sivalinga, the image of Durga made in clay which was being adored by him. These were all seen by Parasurama in the dream.

He also saw the many stuffs made of wheat and barley flour and other eatables, which he continued consuming in the dream. Parasurama the son of Bhrgu found himself clad in divine garments adorned with gem-studded ornament and he also enjoyed the company of a prohibited lady. He also found a dancer, dancing in the dream and also enjoyed the blood and meat besides wine. He also found that his body was soaked in blood.

q i j g iP ri w O Narada, Parasurama saw in the dream at the time of rising of the sun, a yellow bird and He then found himself in fetters and suddenly wounded. Witnessing such a dream Parasurama got up in the early morning.
