Sourceसौतिरुवाच ।। ददर्शाश्रममाश्चर्य्यं देवर्षिर्नारदस्तथा ।। ऋषिर्नारायणस्यैव बदरीवनसंयुतम् ।। १ ।। नानावृक्षफलाकीर्णं पुंस्कोकिलरुतश्रुतम् ।। शरभेन्द्रैः केसरीन्द्रैर्व्याघ्रौघैः परिवेष्टितम् ।। २ ।। ऋषीन्द्रस्य प्रभावेण हिंसाभयविवर्जितम् ।। महारण्यमगम्यं च स्वर्गादपि मनोहरम् ।। ३ ।। सिद्धेन्द्राणां मुनीन्द्राणामाश्रमाणां त्रिकोटिभिः ।। आवृतं चन्दनारण्यैः पारिजातवनान्वितम् ।। ४ ।। ददर्श तमृषीन्द्रं च सभामध्ये मनोहरम् ।। रत्नसिंहासनस्थं च वसन्तं योगिनां गुरुम् ।। ५ ।। जपन्तं परमं ब्रह्म कृष्णमात्मानमीश्वरम् ।। प्रणनाम च तं दृष्ट्वा ब्रह्मपुत्रश्च शौनक ।। ६ ।। उत्थाय सहसाऽऽलिङ्ग्य युयुजे परमाशिषम् ।। पप्रच्छ कुशलं स्नेहाच्चकारातिथिपूजनम् ।।७।। रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये वासयामास नारदम् ।। निवसन्नासने रम्ये वर्त्मश्रमविवर्जितः ।। ८ ।। उवाच तमृषिश्रेष्ठं भगवन्तं सनातनम् ।। अधीत्य वेदान्सर्वांश्च पितुः स्थाने सुदुर्गमान् ।।९।। ज्ञानं सम्प्राप्य योगीन्द्रान्मन्त्रं वै शङ्कराद्विभो ।। मनो मे न हि तृप्नोति दुर्निवारं च चंचलम् ।।1.29.१०।। दृष्टं मया त्वत्पदाब्जं मनसा प्रेरितेन च ।। किंचिज्ज्ञानविशेषं च लब्धुमिच्छामि साम्प्रतम् ।। ११ ।। यत्र कृष्णगुणाख्यानं जन्ममृत्युजरापहम् ।। १२ ।। ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवाद्याश्च सुरेन्द्रश्च सुरा विभो ।। कं चिन्तयन्ति मुनयो मनवश्च विचक्षणाः।।१३।। कस्मात्सृष्टिश्च भवति कुत्र वा संप्रलीयते।। को वा सर्वेश्वरो विष्णुः सर्वकारणकारकः।।१४।। तस्येश्वरस्य किं रूपं कर्म वा किं जगत्पते ।। विचार्य्य मनसा सर्वं तद्भवान्वक्तुमर्हति।।१५।। नारदस्य वचः श्रुत्वा प्रहस्य भगवानृषिः।। कथां कथितुमारेभे पुण्यां भुवनपावनीम् ।। १६ ।। इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते महापुराणे ब्रह्मखण्डे सौतिशौनकसंवादे नारायणं प्रति नारदप्रश्नो नामैकोनत्रिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः ।। २९ ।।
sautiruvāca || dadarśāśramamāścaryyaṃ devarṣirnāradastathā || ṛṣirnārāyaṇasyaiva badarīvanasaṃyutam || 1 || nānāvṛkṣaphalākīrṇaṃ puṃskokilarutaśrutam || śarabhendraiḥ kesarīndrairvyāghraughaiḥ pariveṣṭitam || 2 || ṛṣīndrasya prabhāveṇa hiṃsābhayavivarjitam || mahāraṇyamagamyaṃ ca svargādapi manoharam || 3 || siddhendrāṇāṃ munīndrāṇāmāśramāṇāṃ trikoṭibhiḥ || āvṛtaṃ candanāraṇyaiḥ pārijātavanānvitam || 4 || dadarśa tamṛṣīndraṃ ca sabhāmadhye manoharam || ratnasiṃhāsanasthaṃ ca vasantaṃ yogināṃ gurum || 5 || japantaṃ paramaṃ brahma kṛṣṇamātmānamīśvaram || praṇanāma ca taṃ dṛṣṭvā brahmaputraśca śaunaka || 6 || utthāya sahasā''liṅgya yuyuje paramāśiṣam || papraccha kuśalaṃ snehāccakārātithipūjanam ||7|| ratnasiṃhāsane ramye vāsayāmāsa nāradam || nivasannāsane ramye vartmaśramavivarjitaḥ || 8 || uvāca tamṛṣiśreṣṭhaṃ bhagavantaṃ sanātanam || adhītya vedānsarvāṃśca pituḥ sthāne sudurgamān ||9|| jñānaṃ samprāpya yogīndrānmantraṃ vai śaṅkarādvibho || mano me na hi tṛpnoti durnivāraṃ ca caṃcalam ||1.29.10|| dṛṣṭaṃ mayā tvatpadābjaṃ manasā preritena ca || kiṃcijjñānaviśeṣaṃ ca labdhumicchāmi sāmpratam || 11 || yatra kṛṣṇaguṇākhyānaṃ janmamṛtyujarāpaham || 12 || brahmaviṣṇuśivādyāśca surendraśca surā vibho || kaṃ cintayanti munayo manavaśca vicakṣaṇāḥ||13|| kasmātsṛṣṭiśca bhavati kutra vā saṃpralīyate|| ko vā sarveśvaro viṣṇuḥ sarvakāraṇakārakaḥ||14|| tasyeśvarasya kiṃ rūpaṃ karma vā kiṃ jagatpate || vicāryya manasā sarvaṃ tadbhavānvaktumarhati||15|| nāradasya vacaḥ śrutvā prahasya bhagavānṛṣiḥ|| kathāṃ kathitumārebhe puṇyāṃ bhuvanapāvanīm || 16 || iti śrībrahmavaivartte mahāpurāṇe brahmakhaṇḍe sautiśaunakasaṃvāde nārāyaṇaṃ prati nāradapraśno nāmaikonatriṃśattamo'dhyāyaḥ || 29 ||
English translation
Question raised by Narada before Narayana in Badrikasrama Sauti said— Narada the divine sage, went to the abode of Narayana and had a look at his astonishing Asrama. It had a large number of Jugube trees, besides various other types of trees, in which the cuckoos, were issuing sweet notes.
It had a number of stages, lions and flocks of But with the influence of Narayana, the place was free from danger and violence. Thus the inaccessible forest was looking more charming then the heaven.
Thirty three crores of siddhas and fifty crorcs of ascetics dwelt there. O Brahmana, he found Narayana as there the head of all the Rsis observing the dance of Vidyadharas, wearing a smile over his face. The sound of music and songs relating to Krsna was heard there. There were three crores of siddhas and sages living in Asranias which was surrounded by the forest of Parijata and sandal-wood trees. Thus the sage Narada found a gem-studded lion throne in the centre of the assembly hall, having a beautiful path. He happen to be the teacher of the yogis. O Saunaka, the sage Narada reciting the name of Sr! Krsna bowed at the feet of the lord.
Thereafter sage got up and embraced him showering blessings on him. He then enquired about his welfare and welcomed him.
He made Narada to sit over the beautiful lion throne by which the fatigue of journey of Narada was removed.
Thereafter Narada spoke to the eternal lord, IT lord my mind is not satisfied after getting the knowledge of Vedas from my father Brahma and the divine knowledge fi'om lord Siva. Y'ou therefore, impart the divine knowledge ^ me in order to rid myself of the birli:. death and old age and to recAc always he glory of lord Krsna.
O lord he is the ore who is adored by Brahma, Vhsnu, Siva, Indra aau other gods be, sides the You kindly tell me where from the universe emerges and in whom does it merge ultimately?

lord of the universe, you kindly enlighten me about the great lord.” On hearing the words of Narada the lord smiled and started narrating the stoiy which purifies all the three worlds.
