Translation of page 30

“Kamala would give them water for rinsing and dry their limbs with the end of her veil. Lovingly she would place betel in their mouths and dress them in fine garments.

“Wrapped in bright shawls, they would lie down, revealing the sweetness of their love; their lotus hands would be gently pressed, filling them with sweet and joyful ease.”

Applying Turmeric — Pada 21

At an auspicious hour, let everyone sing together: for the blessed rite, turmeric is applied to (so-and-so Baba).

Cries of “Victory! Victory!” ring in every direction and his good fame resounds; for the blessed rite, turmeric is applied to (so-and-so Baba).

The instruments thunder and delight increases; for the blessed rite, turmeric is applied to Sri (so-and-so Baba).

Happiness arises everywhere, and the gods rain flowers; for the blessed rite, turmeric is applied to Sri (so-and-so Baba).

The blessed turmeric is mixed—auspicious, auspicious! By destiny’s decree this happiness has been received, steeped in auspicious color. As it is smeared on, he is overwhelmed with love and gains the fruit of life; for the blessed rite, turmeric is applied to Sri Sneh Baba.

Applying Ubtan — Pada 22

Great joy today in Mithila—Mother, its beauty cannot be described! The married women come together in affection to rub ubtan upon the limbs of all four brides. The courtyard is plastered with cow dung, and an ornate low seat is prepared. Having invoked Ganapati and Gauri according to the rite, they lovingly anoint all four.
