“People preserve a fitting attitude after considering what is proper and improper; but you imagine yourselves to know the affairs of everyone’s household!” Hearing this, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna laugh and clap together; Siddhi and the other princesses are filled with joy and affection.

Thus, laughing with Raghubara and making him laugh, they direct many playful wedding-taunts toward him. Each begins to fulfill the cherished desire held within her heart. One companion approaches Rama and whispers something into his ear; touching his cheek, the darling considers her birth fulfilled. Another presses his lotus feet with her own tender lotus hands, repeatedly draws them to her heart, and removes all their weariness. Another removes the garland from the Lord of the house and places it around her own neck; finding Raghubara receptive, she offers her entire self to him. Another applies sandal paste to Rama’s body, then rubs that same fragrant paste upon herself; touching the perfumed moisture of his skin, the darling cools the burning within her. Another brings her lotus hands and offers him the khajana birds of her lovely eyes; considering colorful Rama her own beloved, she cannot bear to remain apart. Another gathers tender buds and lovingly fashions a plume for his head; seeing Rama’s beauty increase beyond measure, she remains astonished and intoxicated with rasa. Another companion feeds Rama betel, then takes what remains into her own mouth; receiving it as the sacrament of love, the lovely maiden becomes ecstatically absorbed. Each worships Rama according to her own inclination and drinks in her cherished inner vision; the dark form rises within every heart, and all become intoxicated with divine play.
