“You may endure daggers, spears, pistols, and arrows, countless wounds from swords and lances; regard even Death himself as no more than a child— but keep ten million miles away from those sharp-edged eyes.” (33)
Stanza 34
“Stay millions of miles away, friend—do not even remember him; if the thought enters your heart, you will not remain conscious. Remain with the one who knows the pain of others; if you remain in his company, do not desire anyone else. If you long for love, then burn in love’s fire— living for a moment and dying the next. Death is acceptable, friend, but do not turn away even a little; stay millions of miles from those sharp-edged eyes.” (34)
