Fair as lightning, enchanting, mistress of countless Ratis, she is my sovereign lady, moving with the gait of an elephant-queen.
A fitted bodice and blue garment embrace her slender body; her abundant ornaments reveal a realm of incomparable beauty.
The light of her moon-face spreads in every direction; that mine of Rama’s rasa destroys the darkness of night without remainder.
Drenched in the nectar of love, she smiles, revealing a pure row of teeth; Sri Kishori, Mithilesha’s Daughter, steals Rama’s heart.
Stanza 7
The gods adorn her with flowers from the wish-fulfilling tree and gaze with delight upon the sacred faces of the Couple.
In their many forms of play, joy unfolds and delight expands, like the moon’s mighty light driving darkness away.
Seeing Maithili, such vast and lovely bliss arises; says Sakalata-vihari: this is the settled conviction of my heart—
nowhere in the seven worlds is beauty heard of equal to Rama’s, yet Sita’s incomparable form is a hundred times lovelier even than Rama.
Stanza 8
They bear the beauty of bees, the charm of curved brows, and the intoxication of Varuni wine; like lotuses steeped in Love’s nectar, they are bees at the flower of Rama.
