Filled with love and intoxicated by embodied rasa, they smile enchantingly and steal the heart.
O Ramasakhe, within this ocean of nectar and joy, the fish-like minds of rasikas are caught in beauty’s net.
Pada 139
Rama and beloved Sita rinse after eating.
Shyama stands with betel in her hand, and Rama holds the heavy vessel of water.
Chandravati carries a spotless mirror, and tender Chandrakala bears a napkin.
Subhaga carries the Beloved’s garments, while another companion bears Sita’s sari.
After rinsing, the couple sits upon a delightful seat, bringing happiness to everyone.
Says Ramasakhe: again and again I offer myself upon seeing the Divine Couple’s beautiful faces.
Pada 140
Having eaten, they sit and receive betel: fair Sita, youthful and charming, with her wise dark Beloved.
Some place flower-garlands upon them, while others perfume them with attar.
A betel quid rests upon their lips; beauty overflows, and a gentle smile plays there.
The Beloved smiles and gazes upon his Darling’s form, his reddened eyes languid with delight.
Then the beloved boy takes his Darling’s hand and rises; Rasika Ali receives the gift of joy.
Pada 141
Let me give you a refined betel quid: kattha, lime, cloves, areca nut, and whatever else pleases the heart.
Come, beloved boy—let us play chaupar; I shall wager my life and all my wisdom.
O Janakahariya, give Raghunandana the betel; listen to the secret longing within the heart.
