वन्दन नित्य हृदयसे 'भगवन्नाम' मोहनाशक सुखधाम। परमहंस-ऋषि-मुनि-तापसजन सिद्धयोगियोंका विश्राम॥ भक्तोंके प्रेमीजनमनके जीवनका शुचि परमाधार। पापतापनाशक जन-जनका परमपुण्यमय शान्ताकार॥ सभी साधनोंका परमाश्रय, सर्वसिद्धिदायक शुभमूल। स्पर्शमात्रसे जल जाते सब अघ जैसे पावकसे तूल॥ पिता-पितामह-माता-धाता, भर्ता, त्राता, गुरु, आचार्य। जो जैसे भजता, उसका बन वैसे ही करता सब कार्य॥ करता सिद्ध सहज ही सत्वर जनके धर्म, काम, शुचि अर्थ। देता मोक्ष, सिद्ध करता फिर प्रेम दिव्य पंचम पुरुषार्थ॥

I forever bow from the heart to Bhagavan's Name, destroyer of delusion and abode of happiness. It is the resting place of paramahamsas, seers, sages, ascetics, siddhas and yogis. It is the pure supreme foundation of the lives of devotees and loving hearts. Destroyer of sin and torment for everyone, it is the supremely holy form of peace. It is the highest refuge of every discipline, the auspicious root that grants all perfection. At its mere touch every sin burns away like cotton in fire. It is father, grandsire, mother, creator, sustainer, savior, guru and teacher. It becomes for each worshiper whatever that person seeks and performs every task. It naturally and swiftly perfects Dharma, desire and pure prosperity for the soul. It gives liberation and then perfects divine love, the fifth aim of human life.

Sweetest among all sweet things, the supremely auspicious abode among all that is good, purest among all purifiers is Hari's Name alone.
From Brahma down to a blade of grass, the entire world is Maya's work. Truth, truth and again truth in this world is Hari's Name alone.
That person is mother, father, guru, kinsman and in every way the delight of one's life who teaches constant remembrance of Hari's Name alone.
No breath can be trusted; no one knows when it will cease. Therefore from the very beginning chant Hari's Name alone.

The distressed, men and women, and Dhruva all remain pure witnesses of this gift. Through the Name's glory stones floated upon water. Through the Name's strength Hanuman easily crossed the ocean. The Name's power makes possible everything considered impossible. Blessed are those whose habit is to repeat the Name. To burn up heaps of sin it is a treasury of mighty fire. The instant the Name emerges knowingly or unknowingly, those heaps become ash.

Those who continually bathe in the Ganga of the Name have all three torments erased, and their faces never become dejected. Bhagavan forever dwells in the minds of people sheltered by the Name. Every corrupt desire burns and crumbles at once, along with shame and pride. The Name is life, immortality and the abode of happiness. Those devoted and surrendered to the Name are exceedingly wise. The Name is an eternal waterfall of bliss, the supremely holy ancient truth. Those who respectfully drink it swiftly become free. Repeating the Name, a perfected yogi becomes spiritually capable. From the Name arise the blessed goal and strong, auspicious detachment. Through the Name's glory the lamp of material nature is seen extinguished. Through its power the radiant sun of knowledge of Reality rises. The Name's glory is immeasurable; who can sing all its virtues? The Name is greater than Rama, for through its power Shri Bhagavan sells Himself.

Excellent is the shelter of Rama's Name. The burden of sin falls from the heads of those who take it. Those who remembered Rama's Name were not struck by Yama. Their inner being became perfectly pure, without the slightest defect. By taking Rama's Name, the thick mass of Maya and possessiveness burned away. Through Rama's Name they met Rama, while the world was left hollow and vain.

Through the Name every sin and torment disappears and every desire is destroyed. Yama's messengers flee in terror when they hear the blissful Name. Fortunate are those who constantly repeat the Name without selfish desire. Seeing Hari's world-enchanting form, they swiftly become happy. Unfortunate are those whose minds and mouths do not contain Hari's Name. Their worldly life is hell, a burden upon earth and abode of sin.

Meditate upon Hari, O mind, and sing Rama's virtues. Immersed in love, forget all awareness of the body. While chanting Hari together, let streams of tears flow. Taking the Name, sometimes laugh and sometimes weep. The Compassionate Lord forever makes that heart His dwelling.

Childhood passed while enduring many sorrows. Youth passed in endless worry over spouse, children and wealth. Day and night you ran here and there like an animal. The vine of craving grew, watered by sin. Wind, bile and phlegm increased, and painful old age arrived. The senses lost their strength, and you struck your head in regret. Meanwhile harsh Time came and surrounded you. Seeing death approach, you became intensely afraid. Thinking within the mind, you bitterly regretted: "Alas, I did not worship Rama. Mother, what have I done?" Death seized the life-breath and separated you from family. Immense sorrow remained spread everywhere, and every remedy failed. As the fruit of sins, you obtained a degraded birth, then after suffering sorrow went into the hells. Again and again came birth, death, disease and old age. Enduring exceedingly severe affliction, you found no peace. The boundless sorrow of becoming in this way cannot be described. The Vedas and Puranas sing Rama's Name as the medicine for becoming. Repeating Rama's Name destroys the threefold torments in the world. Rama's Name brings blessedness and happiness in every way. With a heart immersed in love, abandon every desire. Whoever repeats Rama's Name with full force attains liberation.

Having sown thorn trees of sense enjoyment, they never obtain the mango of devotion. For those whose minds make Shri Hari's Name the root of life in the world, life is blessed in the world and opposed to the path of sin.

If you desire supreme happiness, repeat Hari's Name, the supremely pure, supremely beautiful, supreme abode of blessedness. Whoever has ever taken Hari's Name through fear, fatigue or by mistake was also carried across at once, with bonds cut at their very root. All old sins are like dry grass; Hari's Name is the mighty fire that reduces them to ash. Just as darkness is destroyed the moment the sun rises, every sin is destroyed through remembrance of the Name. Wise people who continually repeat it with care are never bound, even accidentally, in Yama's terrible noose. While speaking, working, sitting, rising and walking the road, they take the Name and move without fear. Those who gather and lovingly sing Hari's Name become free from delusion and drink love's nectar.

Hear my plea: repeat Hari's happiness-giving Name. You wandered through 8.4 million painful species. Without cause the Lord showed mercy and again gave you a human body. Entering the mother's womb, you suffered many sorrows. You petitioned the Lord, "Bring me out and uphold Your pledge." In the womb you vowed, "I shall remember You. I will not fasten my mind to sense objects. Lord, deliver me." But after birth into the world, the mind attached itself to sense objects and forgot Rama's sacred Name, destroyer of the pain of birth and death.

You wasted your life within the dream of happiness from enjoyment. You found no happiness; sorrow increased day after day and grief overshadowed the mind. One who, through delusion, mistakes the desert mirage for water will never have the thirst quenched. Know this with certainty. So too, no one has ever found happiness in these worldly enjoyments. How can what is formed of sorrow give happiness? Foolish mind, you are deluded. Reflect, withdraw the mind from sense objects and bring it to the Lord's feet. Renounce desire and sing Hari's Name with love. Now remain content in happiness and sorrow and abandon every wish. Renounce "I" and "mine" and join the mind to Hari's form. You will find peace, sorrow will never overpower you and immense bliss will arise. Immersed in love, forever repeat Hari's happiness-giving Name.

The poison of birth after birth has drained away, for the immortal herb was found. By Hari's grace, may this jeweled strand of the Name never break.
