॥ राग ववा ॥ लगन निगोड़ी लगत सुखारी फिर पाछे दुखदाई री। अँखियन सों मिल गड में पैठे सब घरे अपनाई री॥ १ ॥ लाज मर्याद नेम ब्रत धीरज थाने सबल सिपाही री। छीने शस्तर पकरि निकाई आपु करे ठकुराई री॥ २ ॥ मन सों भूप सुबश कर गति फेरे देशदोहाई री। आपु चहुँदिश निहरि किलोलत नेही को दुबराई री॥ ३ ॥ लडुवाके मिस देत धत्रा बहुत करे मितताई री। कृपानिवास लगत बश स्यानी को नाहीं बिकलाई री॥ ४ ॥ १९ ॥
Fresh English translation
Wretched attachment feels delightful when it first takes hold, but afterward it brings pain. Entering through the eyes, it slips into the citadel and takes possession of every chamber. Modesty, social restraint, observance, vows, and courage stand guard like powerful soldiers; attachment seizes their weapons, drives them out, and establishes its own lordship. It subdues the king called Mind and overturns the realm, proclaiming dominion through the land. Looking out in every direction, it sports freely, and no lover can resist it. Under the pretense of offering sweets it gives a deadly draught, all the while making a great show of friendship. Says Kripanivasa: once attachment takes command, no clever person can avoid bewilderment.
