Fresh English translation
Some lover is a mad fakir, drinking love’s intoxicating cup and remaining drunk through all eight watches. He roams, stands, walks in ecstasy, speaks with a crazed mind; whether wrath or mercy comes, he stays in joy, his heart enticed by what it sees. O eyes, you have been sold into the hands of the dark-hued Beloved’s form. One moment he laughs, another he weeps or raves, then sits silent as though lost to himself. The intimates of the household all laugh and taunt him. Says Kripanivasa: only another wounded person in this world can recognize him.
