वारी मेनो इश्क सतवे गल बिच पाय जंजीरी। गई न बुलावन हठि पासरी दिल बिच उठि पा पीररी॥ १ ॥ मिलगठ अंदर थाना कीता किछुरी लाज बहोरीरी। वेष अकेली मजन मारत तकि तकि दुख देतीरी॥ २ ॥ किसनु देखावा किसनु सुनावा कितबल जवानी यारीरी। कृपानिवास न दोष किसनो चरमो दी तकसीररी॥ ३ ॥ १० ॥
Fresh English translation
Love afflicts me, dear one; it has placed a chain around my neck. I did not summon it, yet it stubbornly came near and raised pain within my heart. It made its station inside my very being and carried away what little shame remained. Alone in its guise, it watches and strikes me, giving sorrow again and again. Whom should I show this to, whom should I tell? What strength have youth or friendship against it? Says Kripanivasa: no one else is at fault; in the end, the transgression is my own.
