॥ राग काफी ॥ लगन अगिनकी तापरी जरि खाक भई होरी। मनो मसान जगाई स्याने बखस आंकि दई होरी॥ १ ॥ बहुत बेहाल हाल कछु नाहिन जादू जाल गही होरी। जाल झरोखन जारनिहारो सब दख भलि गई होरी॥ २ ॥ लगन करूर मरको महत मारे मरि स्वास लई होरी। अरजी पहुँचत गरजी चितकी मरजी पाउ नहीं होरी॥ ३ ॥ त्याग सकौं नहिं लाज लगनकी सीरी आगि दही होरी। कृपानिवास श्रीराम सजनसों समझि सनेहु मरी होरी॥ ४ ॥ ८ ॥
Fresh English translation
In Raga Kafi. I have burned to ash in attachment’s searing fire. It is as though the wise awakened a cremation ground and marked me for its gift. I am utterly undone; no ordinary magic has seized me. The One who burns through the lattice of illusion has made every sorrow good. Cruel attachment struck the very heart of death; dying, I drew one more breath. My petition reached the court and the heart thundered, yet I did not obtain its desire. I cannot abandon the shame of attachment: its cool fire has burned me. Says Kripanivasa: knowing Shri Rama as my Beloved, I died into love.
