In Raga Vihagara. No one knows the hidden pain of attachment. The flame of its fire reaches the lover’s inner vessel beyond the notice of outsiders. As wood eaten by worms crumbles within while seeming sound outside, so the body may stay stout while the mind grows thin; attachment’s heat melts even the coldest frost. One burns and falls away; the world is frightened and thinks the lover nearly dead, yet the lover revives in longing. Once attachment has seized someone, the fear of death departs: sorrow fills the person, but is received as joy. Other diseases announce themselves upon the body and bring many clever remedies. But, says Kripanivasa, the only remedy for attachment to Shri Rama is to bring Rama into the heart.
