Chapter Five — The Source of All Manifestations
Turīyā Jānakī proktā turīyo Raghunandanaḥ,
Ubhayor aṃśajāḥ sarve cāvatārā hy asaṅkhyakāḥ. (77)
Janaki is declared to be the transcendent fourth state, and Raghunandana is likewise the transcendent fourth. Countless divine descents arise as partial manifestations of this eternal pair.
Sarveṣām avatārāṇām avatārī Raghūttamaḥ,
Śrutaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ mayā sarvaṃ cirāya jīvān mune. (78)
Raghuttama is the source from whom every avatara descends. O sage, through long life and his grace I have heard and directly witnessed this entire mystery.
Brahmā Viṣṇu Maheśādyāḥ santy anye ’pi cirajīvinaḥ,
Sarve ’pi vibhavāś cātra yata ’haṃ vibhavāt paraḥ. (79)
Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha, and the other long-lived divine beings are all majestic manifestations within this order. Through Rama’s grace, I have been carried beyond mere awareness of those secondary manifestations to the supreme source itself.
Mādhuryaṃ ca vayasyaṃ ca aiśvaryaṃ Hanumān kapiḥ,
Kiñcit tenaiva jānāmi rahasyaṃ Rāma-Sītayoḥ. (80)
I, Hanuman, know something of the sweetness, intimate companionship, and sovereign majesty of Sita and Rama—but only through their own grace have I learned even a little of this secret.
