Chapter Five — The Innermost Jeweled Throne

The innermost pavilion is woven of subtle radiance and wish-fulfilling jewels. Its light surpasses countless moons, suns, and fires, and within it the divine Sita and Rama manifest in the fullness of Brahman. (59, completed)

Tac caullasat-pīṭhaṃ pavitraṃ nirmalaṃ mantraiḥ suvarṇair citaiḥ samarcitam,
Sa-komale kevala-varcasā pāre guror vacīyaṃ sugamya-rūpe. (60)

There shines a sacred, stainless throne, adorned by countless golden mantras. Supremely soft and composed of pure spiritual brilliance, its true form can be approached only through the word of the guru.

Sa praṇavaiḥ sarva-bījaiḥ sarva-mantraiś ca veṣṭitaḥ,
Yathā maṇi-gaṇākīrṇaṃ vibhāti madhya-nāyakaḥ. (61)

Enclosed by the sacred syllable Oṃ, every seed-syllable, and every mantra, the central Lord shines like a throne covered on all sides with hosts of jewels.

Tat-pada-saroja-pallāsa-locanaḥ pralamba-bāhudvayaḥ suprasannaḥ,
Pratapta-cāmīkara-bhūṣaṇa-cito yasyāṅganā Jānakī jīvana-priyā. (62)

His eyes gleam like lotus petals, his two arms extend gracefully to his knees, and his face is perfectly serene. He is adorned with ornaments of molten gold, while Janaki—dearer to him than life—rests as the foremost of his beloved companions.

Parātparāliṅgitam iṅgitajñaṃ hāsyena vākyena nimajjitāntaram,
Rāsāspadaṃ sarva-sukhāspadaṃ taṃ namāmi Rāseśvaram apradhṛṣyam. (63)

I bow to the unassailable Lord of the rāsa, embraced by the supreme beloved and perfectly aware of every loving sign. Her smiles and words immerse his heart in bliss; he is the abode of rāsa and the dwelling place of every happiness.
