Chapter Five — The Eight Presiding Bowers

In the Bower of Play, Sita and Rama rejoiced with the eternal companion Vrinda, who remains perpetually immersed in divine bliss. (42, completed)

Vihārais tena harṣeṇa keli-kautūhalena ca,
Toṣayitvā ca yasyāṃ tāṃ Kāmena Kalanena ca. (43)

They pleased Vrinda with joyous roaming, intimate play, and the many arts of love, then wandered happily through the bower she governed.

Tatas tu sukhadaṃ nāma kuñjaṃ dṛṣṭvā manoramam,
Ūhe parama-santuṣṭo Nityā yat virājate. (44)

Next they beheld the enchanting Bower of Bliss, where the companion Nitya presides. The divine pair became supremely content in that delightful place.

Tato hindolakaṃ kuñjaṃ dolayitvā muhur muhuḥ,
Premapradarśinī sakhyāḥ pūrṇakṛtvā manoratham. (45)

They then entered the Swing Bower and swung again and again. In this way they fulfilled the loving wish of its companion Premapradarshini.

Manojñaṃ dolanaṃ kuñjaṃ yayau Rāmaḥ saha priyā,
Vasantaraṅgiṇī yatra vasantī paramaharṣitā. (46)

Rama and his beloved next went to another charming bower of swings, where the supremely delighted companion Vasantarangini dwells.
