Chapter Two — Vrindavan

Vraja-vaidūrya-maṇibhir maṇḍitā bhūḥ suvistṛtā,
Nānā-kuñja-kalāpaiś ca veṣṭitā hema-vallibhiḥ. (24)

Vrindavan’s spacious ground was adorned with vaidurya gems, surrounded by many lovely bowers and golden vines. Birdsong and the hum of bees filled the exquisite groves.

Vahanti vividha-vātā rañjitā puṣpa-reṇubhiḥ,
Prabhayā bhāsamānā sā mano-vācām agocarā. (25)

Gentle, fragrant breezes blew, colored by flower pollen. The land shone by its own light and lay beyond mind and speech.

Guñjan-madhuvrata-śreṇī nānā-vidhi-samākulā,
Ramate tatra Vaidehyā saha Rāmo rasātmakaḥ. (26)

Rows of humming bees filled the grove, alive with every variety of beauty. There Rama, embodiment of rasa, sported with Vaidehi.

Vilāsa-nipuṇāḥ sakhyaḥ saha-vilāsa-hetavaḥ,
Vicitro vara-bhūṣābhir bhāsamānābhir āvṛtau. (27)

The companions, expert in divine play and its facilitators, surrounded the Couple in wondrous and excellent ornaments, joining in their sport.
