Chapter Two — From Madhavi Grove to Vrindavan

Kaṭākṣa-kṣepa-nānāśair hāsya-lāvaṇya-lālitau,
Kandarpa-dīpti-darpaghnau mahā-mādhurya-maṇḍitau. (20)

Delighting in laughter, grace, and countless sidelong glances, the Couple destroyed the pride of Kama’s radiance and were adorned with supreme sweetness.

Vāṇī-vācāgamy a-rūpau rati-śāstra-viśāradau,
Taḍid-ghana-samākārau loka-locana-lobhinau. (21)

Like lightning beside a raincloud, their forms enticed every eye. Masters of the science of love, they were beyond the reach of speech and language.

Tatra nānā-vidhā krīḍāḥ krīḍamānau su-narmabhiḥ,
Tataḥ praviśya Śrī-Rāmaḥ paramānanda-dāyakam. (22)

After enjoying many refined and tender sports there, Rama entered the grove called Vrindavan, giver of supreme bliss.

Vanaṃ Vṛndāvanaṃ nāma sarva-dhyānamayaṃ param,
Tatra Vṛndā-sakhī sākṣāt sevate ’niśam uttamam. (23)

That supreme forest, Vrindavan, is composed entirely of meditation. There the companion Vrinda herself renders the highest service day and night.
