Supplement — Eleven Verses from the Sadāśiva Saṃhitā
Śrī-Rāma-mantrasyāṃśāni mantrāṇy anyāni viddhi ca,
Hanumantam ācāryam āho Rāma-dhāma satāṃ padam. (1)
Know all other mantras as portions of Sri Rama’s mantra. Hanuman is proclaimed the primal teacher, and Rama’s abode is the destination of the saints.
Śrī-Jānakyāḥ patiṃ sarve bhajadhvaṃ maṅgalāyanam,
Rāma-mantreṇāyudhābhyāṃ yuktāḥ śuśubhire bhuvi. (2)
All should worship the husband of Sri Janaki, the dwelling place of every auspiciousness. Those joined to Rama’s mantra and marked with his two weapons shine upon the earth.
Sura-gurv-ādi-guravo Rāma-mantrasya sevakāḥ,
Śrī-guror Māruteḥ śiṣyaḥ Sugrīvaś ca Kapīśvaraḥ. (3)
The divine preceptors beginning with the guru of the gods are servants of Rama’s mantra. Sugriva, lord of the monkeys, became a disciple of the revered guru Maruti.
Śrī-Rāmasyāyudhau taptau Rāma-mantraṃ vyadhārayat,
Pañcāṣṭādaśa-saṃkhyātaṃ sva-sainyāc ca Hanumataḥ. (4)
Bearing Rama’s mantra and the heated impressions of Sri Rama’s two weapons, Hanuman also established that sacred discipline throughout his own army.
Dīkṣitās tena mantreṇa dhanur-bāṇena cāṅkitāḥ,
Hanumac-chiṣyatāṃ prāpto Mahārājo Vibhīṣaṇaḥ. (5)
Initiated with that mantra and marked with bow and arrow, the great king Vibhishana entered discipleship under Hanuman.
Rāmāyudhābhyāṃ taptābhyām aṅkitaś ca sa mudrayā,
Tathā tasya prajāḥ sarvā cihnitā Rāma-lāñchanaiḥ. (6)
He was marked with the heated impressions of Rama’s two weapons and with the sacred seal; all his subjects were likewise marked with Rama’s emblems.
Rāja-mārgam imaṃ viddhi Rāmoktaṃ Jānakī-kṛtam,
Yad ṛte cānya-mārgās tu corāṇāṃ vīthikā yathā. (7)
Know this as the royal road, spoken by Rama and established by Janaki. Apart from it, other paths resemble the hidden lanes used by thieves.
Ādyācāryaṃ Hanumantaṃ tyaktvā hy anyam upāsate,
Kliśyanti caiva te mugdhā mūla-hāḥ pallavāśritāḥ. (8)
Those who abandon Hanuman, the primal teacher, and worship another suffer in delusion: they have discarded the root and taken shelter only in the leaves.
Śrī-Maithilyāś ca mantraṃ hi Śrī-guruṃ Mārutaṃ mahat,
Sakhī-bhāvaṃ dampatīṣṭaṃ bhukti-mukti-pradaṃ sadā. (9)
The mantra of Sri Maithili, the great guru Maruti, the companion’s loving disposition, and the Divine Couple as one’s chosen deity forever bestow both sacred enjoyment and liberation.
Śrī-Jānakī-sampradāyaṃ Rāma-rāsam ananyatām,
Ṛte ke ’pi na yāsyanti vāñchitaṃ phalam eva ca. (10)
Without the lineage of Sri Janaki, the rāsa of Rama, and exclusive devotion, no one reaches the truly desired fruit.
Śrī-Rāmasyāyudhau taptau Jānakī-mudrikāṃ vinā,
Pārameṣṭhyaṃ na prāpnoti jñānādi-sādhanair api. (11)
Without the heated marks of Sri Rama’s two weapons and Janaki’s signet, the supreme state is not attained even through disciplines beginning with knowledge.
